Hi all, hoping you can help. My nephew lost his way a little bit last year during year 12 and covid etc. He was doing 3 Alevels buts has done really badly and school report really bad. Now thinking what to do?

Do we give up on education and go for apprenticeship? Or would there be any private schools who could take him? Eg thoughts on Sackville? Or any other private schools?

We moved my daughter to Rochester Independent in year 11. Best thing we ever did. It’s a great school - quite alternative but they really “get” teens. Definitely worth a look.

Another here vote for Rochester.

I know some private schools are happy for pupils to restart a year either through poor A level choice or other circumstances. So your DN could probably do 3 A levels over 2 years.

For boys I would definitely check out Sackville and perhaps Bethany.

I also know a couple of families whose children have switched from IB and have taken a one year A level course with Rochester College so plenty of options to consider.
