Hi, my DD will be going into sixth form in September 2022 and we would like to send her to an Independent school - she has been at State school for her education so far but not being massively academic or interested in school she tends to cruise in the middle and hasn't really enjoyed the experience. We think she would benefit from smaller classroom sizes and a school that focuses more on the individual. We live in the North of England so have been looking at boarding schools.
Career ambitions are tv production or something in the media but we don't want to over-focus on that in case she changes her mind.
Having discussed it, she would like to do a combination of BTEC and A Level.
We are looking at Giggleswick, Stowe and have just come across Rochester Independent College which looks interesting. Has anyone any experience of these schools, particularly Rochester? These three schools seem to offer the right courses/curriculum and that whole ethos of focusing on the individual. It would be good to have her a bit nearer home so she could come home at weekends but if the school is right and she is happy there, that's not a massive issue. Also prefer co-ed.
Really want to do the right thing by her for sixth form and would very much like her to enjoy the experience and grow in confidence. Feel we have failed her a bit so far.
Any advice gratefully received!
