Iam due to be moving to North Baddesley, Hampshire. I have a yr 10 who has been accepted at both Romsey School and Mountbatten. Could someone with experience help me out on information about the schools.
I also have a 5 year old due to start year 1 any recommendation on primary?

I have v recent experience. Smile

Both are very good schools. I think Mountbatten is a bit more pushy than Romsey whereas I think Romsey has better pastoral care. They get very similar results in normal years. Living in N.Baddesley most neighbouring children will go to Mountbatten - there is a cycle path from N.Baddesley that finishes near Mountbatten where as Romsey is the opposite side from you.

Personally at y10 I'd be tempted to go with the one who can offer your preferred combination of GCSE options, as timetabling will already have been done. Also check to what extent syllabus has already started in Science (& possibly English Lit) and how that overlaps with what your y10 will have done.

There will be SLT at the schools (or answering emails at least) due to GCSE appeals.

(Primary* N.B. has its own infants & juniors I think. If full then any of the Romsey ones are fine (I'm less keen on the Romsey Abbey one). Your difficulty will be finding one with space. We have linked primary schools here giving priority admission for out of catchment. Halterworth is linked to M. (reputation again for pushiness, but you will be in catchment for M anyway I would have thought), Romsey Primary is linked to both - really rate the HT there. Cupernham is split infants/juniors and is 3 form entry.

Best wishes.

Cupernham Infant School are brilliant! There are three classes per year group, but the school doesn’t seem that big at all. All staff have really good bonds with and genuinely care about the children and their individual needs. On the same site as Cupernham Junior School, but different headmasters. Head of the Infant School is very proactive and the school is very vibrant and has amazing facilities and wraparound care until 6pm. Have also heard amazing things about Halterworth Primary School, but think it is difficult to get in!
