Year 11 2022 - Leavers Date England

Hi - does anyone know when the next Year 11s will finish their exams? I know when the legal date they can leave is but I’m not sure that’s when their exams will be finished. Any help gratefully received- thank you x

For the last few years, basically since the Grenfell Fire, exam boards have had a holding date up to which exams could still be set, even when the timetable is published. So IIRC in 2020 it was 26 June - obvs in the end irrelevant.

Has the exam timetable been published? I don't think it has yet but when it is, that will give you the answer. Are you thinking about holidays? Don't forget things like prom and other leavers events.

Ds1 finished Tuesday 18th June back in 2019. He was one of the last to finish, most finishing on the Friday before (14th) which was science and they had the leavers' assembly and a small party on that day.

They also had a transition day on the 10th July for sixth form which was a requirement for entry where they explained the rules etc. Ds didn't go to prom, wasn't bothered and neither were his close friends even though it was free for them.

There is always a contingency day near the end of June.

If going to a college (as opposed to school based 6th form) then transition days will be after A levels but before the end of their term. College's often finish early compared with schools (at least they do round here) often more like 7 July.

If you are lucky your school will be organised and publish a calendar at start Sept which will tell you prom date and emergency exam date.

No exam timetable has been issued yet for 2022 - I do our school calendar and cannot put the dates in, which annoys me a lot

If you’re lucky, the DfE/Ofqual will have decided what they are going to do about next year’s exams and let the schools know before next May and then the schools can pass that information on. Nothing to do with the school being ‘organised’ or not.

Ah well, this as well. But even in normal years some schools have prom dates fixed early, and some much later.
