Could you tell me where you get yours from? I ordered some from Next and they are so thin, almost transparent 😡

I tend to buy M&S but also from Sainsbury's

CruCru · 22/07/2021 09:45

I buy ours from John Lewis. They last and last.

DonGray · 22/07/2021 10:13

John Lewis

TheHumanMothboy · 22/07/2021 10:21

John Lewis, they're not even particularly expensive, but they are good quality.

MrsMariaReynolds · 22/07/2021 10:26

If your secondary child is anywhere close to mens sizing, Matalan do surprisingly good shirts for school.

I second this.
ChequerBoard · 22/07/2021 10:31

John Lewis definitely, proper cotton that needs ironing.

Swimmum1206 · 22/07/2021 11:30

I just bought DS the extra long ones from M&S. TBH, I was hoping his current ones would survive another year as he's going into Y11 in September, but they are far too short for him. The M&S ones appear to be far better quality than his current John Lewis ones.

TeenMinusTests · 22/07/2021 14:06

John Lewis here too.

clary · 22/07/2021 20:56

YY I bought DS2 a l/s John Lewis one in yr 11 and he liked it so much better than his s/s M&S ones. It was cotton and really good quality but you have to iron it (mind you I iron all shirts).

When we got to 6th form the Next etc men's shirts were all nasty polycotton so I got him the biggest size in the JL one (they go up to collar size 16.5 which will fit most men tbh) and they were nicer and cheaper.

these ones

MyHusbandisRonWeasley · 23/07/2021 09:40

I've always been happy with M&S, but tried Tesco as so much cheaper and they're great. Can't say there's any difference really.

BlodwinTheThird · 23/07/2021 10:32

Thanks for the responses! So people advocate 100% cotton for better thickness, or does that not really matter?

I always bought cotton anyway as DC were prone to eczema but M&S pure cotton were v thin, the JL ones I linked were much better

BlodwinTheThird · 23/07/2021 16:21

Thanks clary!

M&S non-iron ones. Never had a pocket tear off or seam split. They also go up to a collar size when outgrown the young teens ages which is great as no VAT!

KaptainKaveman · 24/07/2021 09:40

Another vote for the JL cotton ones. More costly but sooo much nicer to wear and not sweaty like to horrible polycotton ones.
