Online science

Does anyone know of an online science program for secondary school pupils. My son has just finished year 7 and the science education suffered as unfortunately a couple of the teachers got quite unwell with Covid and then there were periods of isolation.

I'm sure they will go back over everything in September, but he's asking me if there is something similar to reading eggs for his age for the sciences. He's just been watching his younger cousins on it!

Hi @lunar1,

Take a look at www.coresciences.co.uk. This is a platform where pupils can perform science experiments virtually and learn about the theory behind the experiments. They can also play games and take tests based on what they have learned.

The platform is aimed at GCSE students, but schools often do these experiments with Year 7 and 8 students as well.

I hope this is useful! Smile

Thank you that’s helpful

DD used Seneca for revision and found it really good. Her school subscribed to it so not sure if any of it is free to access.

Seneca is free and very good.

BBC Bitesize is very good at covering the basics.

Have you tried the Oak National lessons? They are ok for KS3.

I would not worry too much though. I reteach the whole course from year 10 for their GCSEs.

There is paid tuition online though but it probably isn't needed at this point.
