Grey Court School

Hi,

Does anyone know if children on the Twickenham/Strawberry Hill side of the Thames fulfill admissions criteria on distance? I can’t quite work it out but assume not as distance is calculated by Shortest maintained highway.

Many thanks

Children in Teddington can get into Grey Court on distance because they can walk across Teddington Lock footbridge. As you say, Richmond council distance criteria is "shortest route by road and/or maintained footpath".

But if you are in Twickenham/Strawberry Hill, then I think you may be too far away. I think the cut off distance this year (on offer day March 2021) was 2.4km for Grey Court. But obviously that changes each year so you may be lucky.

It's a great school - my DD is in Y9 and we couldn't be happier with the education and opportunities she is having.

Possibly but it is a pain in the backside apparently. A friend lives near there and you'd have to get a bus to Richmond and back out to Ham again because although closer to Twickenham there is no bridge.

Do you know that Ham village will shortly be demolished and double the amount of flats built near the school?

It will cause disruption to traffic, etc

Not sure why my reply didn’t post but thank you both!

If you're in Twickenham/Strawberry Hill, I would say you are probably too far out for Grey Court. But you do have other great schools that should be accessible eg. Orleans, Waldegrave, Turing House, RTS etc.
