AQA Further Maths L2

All top set maths students at our school have been invited to take this qualification in KS4, starting in September. It will be mainly self-study with one taught session per month, until nearer to the exams. If you take this and end up with a low grade, when otherwise you are a high achieving student will this look bad? What has been your experience of DCs doing this under their own steam?

Following if that's ok @AlmaWacky as DD has just been bumped up to Y10 for September and will also be doing AQA Further Maths. She seems keen but slightly apprehensive.

Top set at my secondary cover both GCSE and Further Maths curriculum in normal timetables lessons of 3 per week. GCSE can be taught quickly due to ability of the set. Further Maths is just embedded in throughout the scheme of work..
Many years ago I had a student in a different school who did this by 'themselves'. Spent a lot of time with me at lunch times.
Some similarities but the co-ordinate geometry is quite complex and there are topics never covered in GCSE such as matrices and differentiation.
Great for anyone doing A-level Maths.
