Hi, any feedback on any of these schools greatly appreciated for my daughter who is having to move schools due to bullying and bad transition. Is Turing House majority boys and science? When are they moving to new site? Hampton high any feedback? She is quite sporty but more interested in a caring environment if possible. There may also be option of Waldegrave but as so oversubscribed wondering about these other two. Any feedback/thoughts X

Hello, we moved our son to Turing in year 8 - not due to bullying, but deeply disappointed in our original choice of secondary. Very happy with the decision - inclusive, welcoming, close knit school with high expectations for behaviour. The headmaster is excellent as are most of the teachers. They really seem to care about the pupils and making the school a success. It is boy heavy but I have heard from parents with girls it is not an issue, but have to say I don’t know a lot about girls’ experiences of the school. They support academic pupils well. They managed the transition for my son very successfully - he made friends very quickly. I don’t feel the science focus is at the expense. If other subjects. TBH I’m not sure I’ve noticed a particular science focus at all but I think it’s there if you seek it out. They do have very good humanities teachers (Eng/history). I’d say languages are a bit of a weaker area but that may be just down to bad luck with teacher turnover and being a new school without an established MFL team. New building will be ready next year, so that should make it an even better option. No experience of Hampton, sorry.

Whereabouts do you live exactly and which school would your DD be moving from if I may ask? Feel free to PM me if you'd rather not post publicly on here 😉

Hi @Sam250 there's a government website where you can get stats on schools, things like results and population stats, and compare schools side by side, though it's a bit fiddly. Here's the page for Turing - www.compare-school-performance.service.gov.uk/school/141963/turing-house-school/absence-and-pupil-population it's 69% boys. It's because it overlaps with Waldegrave's catchment. Teddington and Orleans Park are boy heavy for the same reason, both arou d 60%. But I know girls at Turing and they seem very happy. It.sounds like a very kind and caring school and the girls I know are doing well. There's information about their site move here, looks like early 2022 for the move www.turinghouseschool.org.uk/site.php. I heard Hampton High has become more popular since it got its Good Ofsted but I don't know anyone there.

@Sam250 - have you been able to move?

Mind if I also ask which school you’re moving from @Sam250 and @user1485813778?? My DC is due to start secondary locally soon so looking for any info.

Hi 👋🏼, glad I found this thread as it’s so helpful. I’m also looking for my (sweet friendly but a bit unconfident) daughter who needs a place in year 10. Wondering about Turing house /teddington school - or grey court. Any info much appreciated.

Maomimo · 12/07/2021 20:06

@Alice12 those are all popular schools (Teddington dipped to Requires Improvement in its last inspection but everyone seems to think it's been turned around by its new Trust and will get Good next time). Turing House is smaller than the other two and is split across two sites until it moves, so that makes it seem smaller. Year 10 to 13 (upper school) will be based at their Hampton site from September, which is a swap-around from this year: www.turinghouseschool.org.uk/openingsite.php.

@Maomimo Thank you for your reply!
@Sam250 could you possibly DM me with the school you're leaving? I'm nervous about our school choice!
