Did you get the results via email or post? We're due our results this week but wondering whether I should be hitting refresh on the computer, or watching the front door!!

You might get a decision by email but the normal means of communication for an appeal is a written letter as the letter has to explain the reasoning behind the decision.

We were able to call the office to find ours out. The written notification followed.

Thankfully we got a phonecall on the day, then a letter in the post with full details a few days later.

The panel did know that the Y7 trasision day was only a couple of days after our hearing (we were the last family on the list ) so wanted to make sure we got the news in time for her to attend.

Calling the office is definitely not best practice. There have been situations where the wrong information and decision have been relayed to the parent on the phone, which is why a formal written letter is always deemed to be best practice.

Ah, will refresh regularly too then!! Wink

The whole of the process to date has been electronic, including submitting and receiving all appeal documents.

So interesting - we are currently going through the wait as well and have been told that legally we can ONLY be told by letter! I've even asked for an electronic copy of the letter due to having slow mail but was told I must wait 3 days after the letter is mailed to receive an email!

Baring in mind that it has been almost 4 months since the school offers initially went out I find it ridiculous that we continue to wait for a letter through snail mail to inform us of a decision that was made last week and a decision which some appellants already have an answer to!

Did you get your reply? Hope it has gone your way!

londonsaint · 22/06/2021 15:45

We had our decision last week and it was via email (letter attached to an email anyway)! Good news here as our appeal was upheld.

It was 6 days from our hearing until we received the outcome.

We applied for the school electronically, had our offer electronically, submitted our appeal and supporting evidence via email, then had a Teams appeal hearing, so makes sense to send the decision via email too!

We also did everything electronically too! But snail mail it is for the decision Hmm
