I’m thinking about moving my child to parliament hill due to us moving lately. Can someone tell me about you experience with the school and if it’s a good idea?

Do you know what number you are you on the waiting list?

It’s a decent school but I suppose it depends on what school she’s at, if she’s happy there and if she can still get there. Oh, and what year group. I’d think carefully about moving a happy child however good the destination school is.

Daughter is just finishing year 11. We transferred in year 8 due to relocation. I have to say she loved it. It’s large enough to find friends. Teaching is very good. Results excellent. But what I liked most is the genuine care about students. We moved from Bucks and I have to say when comparing, the other school was miles behind in terms of pastoral care. They communicate with parents, keep you updated, phone and email if there are any issues. Whatever you raise, you do get a valid timely response. Kids are like kids, some great some not so but they keep them in check. No major bullying, just fall outs but that’s inevitable anywhere, and especially with girls. They are also very flexible with GCSE options - daughter was allowed her choices although they have never done that before - they do look at individuals rather than just blindly following set rules. That’s of course our experience - these might vary for others. If you need to know anything, feel free to message me! Good luck!

Hi all, sorry for jumping on this thread. I can't figure out how to start a new one. I hope someone sees this.

My daughter was no.3 on the Parli wait list the day after offer day last week. I just called admissions and she is now no.11. I hadn't realised that you could go down so significantly. I knew if a family moved closer they would go ahead but 8 families cannot have moved since last week. It must be people who hadn't initially listed Parliament Hill as a one of their choices I guess? Really hoping my daughter will get a place. Would really appreciate any stories or advice. Thank you.

Yes likely to be people who didn't list it initially or who have changed their mind and wished they had listed it as higher preference. There may also be some late applicants. It is worth considering that not all the people above you will love the school. Some will be unhappy with their offer and asked to go on as many waiting lists as possible.

I would also expect it is an area with some movement due to people going private or relocating. I don't have personal experience with the school though. Good luck!

My DD was 71 on the waiting list this time last year and moved to 20 something by July then was offered a place 3 weeks into term.
Several others I know who were higher up the list had places by April.

Thank you @BendingSpoons and @ExiledinIslington.

@ExiledinIslington did you take the place?

ExiledinIslington · 07/03/2022 21:51

Yes, we did.
There will likely be a fair bit of movement in the next month, people will take up private school places etc
