Houses & bubbling

DS is starting Secondary school in September. We have been allocated houses which in turn is used to allocate tutor groups and all good until I realised the child we are lift sharing with is a different house. I’m not sure what bubbles etc they have at secondary school as it’s been quite strict with no mixing at primary. Am I over thinking this does it even matter? obvs I’m praying for no more isolation and lockdowns etc.

It will be fine!

All secondary schools are different. Most have had year group sized bubbles. The 'bubbles' are more like sieves in secondary anyway.

I also think it is fine. If your child tests positive it means that as well as her bubble in school (whatever size that is) having to isolate, the lift share will have to isolate too.

Most secondary schools seem to have year group bubbles so probably won’t be an issue.

DD's school has year group bubbles but has only isolated 'close contacts', so not whole year groups. They track who pupils are close to in the classroom, and then ask them who they socialise with.

Many of the children will be mixing together on public transport on their way to school. Many will mix together at out of school clubs. Many others will have siblings that they mix with (which must surely be the case at primary school as well?). Many secondary schools don't even have "bubbles" (surprised everyone on here mentioning year group bubbles - not a thing round here possibly as year groups are all huge) but just isolate close contacts if necessary.

In short, you are overthinking.

Thanks, just didn’t want to make it any more difficult for the school and as they have time to take it into account. I thought I should tell them. But obvs not, I shall go back to wondering how he’s growing up so fastSmile
