Private schools near Epsom

Hi all,
We are starting to think about schools for our 9 year old son. We live in Epsom. We should be in the catchment for Glyn but this isn't guaranteed. There aren't any other local state schools we are keen on. So we are also considering local private schools. Downsend School sounds great. I have read mixed reviews about Freemens. Does anyone have any insight into these, or any other local secondary schools?
Thank you! Smile

I've always heard rumours that Epsom College is rife with bullying. The only two adults I know who went are rather unpleasant.

One of my GPs is the Dr to Epsom College. He is a rather imperious soul and I think was a pupil there decades ago and it stacks up really.

Epsom College is a local public school. It certainly isn't in the academic league of: KCS, St Paul's, Hampton, Westminster, Winchester, Eton, City of London, etc.

@BlueTick St John's didn't seem to tolerate bullying, but I think it happens everywhere sadly. The school is quite nuturing and allows individuals to flourish. My DS has a lot of mental health problems and they supported him throughout his time there.

Yeap, we are very happy with Ewell Castle senior School, where I have two sons. It caters for all abilities and I can certify it challenges the academically able.
Mr Edmonds is a fantastic Headteacher with a pretty clear vision of what he wants the students to achieve. Pupils all in all very happy. My sons have made great friends too!

Another vote for Ewell Castle. My son goes there and I don't know anyone who would consider him a 'non-achiever'.

The great thing about the school that it is not full of children with judgemental and overbearing parents.

Same here. My oldest son at Ewell Castle is super bright, yet also happy and well rounded. Like you, I love the fact that parents are not pushy. There is a lovely atmosphere to the school both among students and staff.

Is Reeds too far away in Oxshott? That's a lovely school. Check if they have a a school bus from Epsom
You could look at co-ed City of London Freeman's at Ashtead too.

@RoseHansBolo absolutely, it depends how and whether bullies are dealt with.
