I watched with interest the information and support on this thread www.mumsnet.com/Talk/secondary/4177427-PART-3-SW-London-Girls-Indies-11-Results-Decisions-Panic-Over and wanted to start the same thread for South West London parents with daughters who will be applying for secondaries (independents and grammar) for places in year 7 in Sept 2022.

Where are you applying, how are the virtual open days going..... and to tutor or not to tutor?

WL place for PHS here - so really hoping it moves when other schools release their places and decisions are made. Stress levels still v high here.

HighRopes · 08/02/2022 07:50

Fingers crossed for you, Cruisin. We’ll be releasing some offers at the weekend, possibly including Putney, depending on what happens this week. I’m sure others will be in the same situation.

Broccolimagic · 08/02/2022 10:03

Congratulations everyone! And to you too @Cruisinforcroissant - fingers crossed it all works out quickly for you. We’ve got to wait till Friday/Saturday - and are very aware it will be longer if waitlisted. It’s so tough. (I’m aware it’s the most privileged of first world problems, but the uncertainty, and concern for your child, is stressful. As you all know!)

LAgirl · 08/02/2022 10:08

Thank you @firefly123 :)

travelturtle · 08/02/2022 11:52

@Cruisinforcroissant that’s tough but hopefully list will move. Maybe ring the school and see if you can find out where you are on the WL (and emphasise that it’s your first choice) to give you some idea of chances of a place. We have no results yet so stress levels high here too.

SW17cleocat · 08/02/2022 14:30

My friend’s DD just got offered 13+ for Epsom. I haven’t heard from them yet but 11+ must be on the way.

puzzledmom · 08/02/2022 17:47

Anyone hear from LEH?

Benny12 · 08/02/2022 18:13

@puzzledmom they were posted today so you should get them tomorrow or in my case sometime after easter Confused

Westlondonmom22 · 08/02/2022 18:19

I really don’t understand why they still post the results. We will be lucky to get ours by Saturday!

Mum201014 · 08/02/2022 18:57

You should phone the school if you don’t get the post by Friday, according to LEH parent information webinar

puzzledmom · 08/02/2022 20:05

Thanks all... totally forgot about the parents webinar and didn't join !

Stormy3 · 09/02/2022 09:54

@puzzledmom. We received a letter from LEH this morning, as well as KGS. Both are thicker than just one page. Not sure if I should open or let DD open like I normally would do!? Is thicker letter always an offer, or can it be wait list or a no?

PricePoint · 09/02/2022 10:10

@Stormy3 only one way to find out ;)

refusetobeasheep · 09/02/2022 10:18

really?? agh i'm in the office so won't know if KGS arrives until later!!!

1910username · 09/02/2022 10:31

@Stormy3, both offers we’ve received came in an A4 envelope.

Are yours A4?

Stormy3 · 09/02/2022 10:43

@1910username Congratulations on your offers!!! What wonderful news and must be great to have a choice? Both the letters we received are in an A4, both certainly have more than just one page inside even if LEH is slightly ticker.

The KGS one has a window and I admit I did peak through it - at lest that one is an offer!

1910username · 09/02/2022 10:46

@Stormy3, I think you have reason to be optimistic.

Please let us know this evening!

swgeek · 09/02/2022 11:26

I wasn't expecting anything from KGS till Friday, now I am worried, we did not receive anything today. Keep us updated if they email as well.

DD received an 11+ offer from Epsom College yesterday (via email), that will soften the blow in case we get bad news from KGS. Congrats everyone on the offers so far! The wait seems endless...

squirrelofsw19 · 09/02/2022 11:36

Congrats @swgeek on the Epsom offer. We are also awaiting news from KGS with postal delays not helping. I hope you don’t mind me asking but I noticed on another thread that you might have had a bad experience with one of the GDST schools and, noting your current preference for co-ed, wondered whether there’s anything to be aware of (aside from the pension issue that looks as though it will affect most schools at some point)? We have also applied for a mixture of all-girls and co-ed as can see the pros and cons of each. Of course we may not have the luxury of being able to choose between depending on post today!

Stormy3 · 09/02/2022 11:55

@swgeek @refusetobeasheep Sorry to alarm you this morning, the other letter is not KGS but an other school! Think we have to wait for KGS until Friday.

refusetobeasheep · 09/02/2022 12:09

@Stormy3 ah OK! Will stop plotting my early return home!!!

swgeek · 09/02/2022 12:17

@Stormy3 phew! I was already rummaging through our very empty mailbox to see if there could be a fat A4 letter hidden between the old marketing leaflets ;-))).

@squirrelofsw19 I will PM you, short answer is it probably depends on the individual school and the child, for my DD I just feel teenage years in London are tough enough, I want to avoid the added worry of a perfectionist high pressure environment that could affect her mental health, but I am sure many girls are very happy in their girls' schools.

puzzledmom · 09/02/2022 13:08

@Stormy3 just got the big envelope with offer. Most likely good news for you! Sealed it back again for Dd to open when back from school!

travelturtle · 09/02/2022 13:19

@Stormy3 can I ask which the other school was? Still anxiously waiting for all our results here 😬 - think all due Fri

Stormy3 · 09/02/2022 13:28

@travelturtle it was Kew House (co-ed). Some girls schools have sent results, as far as I'm aware PHS and Surbiton. Good luck to you! And many congratulations @puzzledmom!!
