I watched with interest the information and support on this thread www.mumsnet.com/Talk/secondary/4177427-PART-3-SW-London-Girls-Indies-11-Results-Decisions-Panic-Over and wanted to start the same thread for South West London parents with daughters who will be applying for secondaries (independents and grammar) for places in year 7 in Sept 2022.

Where are you applying, how are the virtual open days going..... and to tutor or not to tutor?

Aha thanks Stormy- will stop stalking the postman in that case!
And that’s helpful to know swgeek. Thank you. Yes even between our 2 DDs I think different schools will suit. Can’t believe we have to go through this all again in 2 years.

travelturtle · 09/02/2022 13:48

Thanks @Stormy3. We only applied to co-Eds but not that one. @squirrelofsw19 I have to do it twice more - hoping it will get easier…

deerison · 09/02/2022 13:53

How many schools did everyone apply to?

SkaterGrrrrl · 09/02/2022 19:13

We applied only for the 3 closest private schools. Our local state is good so we were always going to be happy with that as a back up.

It's a no from LEH for us.... It is a great school, but DD is delighted with her offer of an academic scholarship from Surbiton, so on balance we are not feeling disappointed.

HighRopes · 09/02/2022 19:20

We applied for five plus Tiffin. We had planned three, but dd wanted to do more and we asked her why. She said she thought she’d be less nervous if she did more, so we went with that (she’s quite a worrier, and tbh I think she was right - she got calmer before exams as she did more). Also, from last time, WHS is really unpredictable, so we were wary of having that as one of only three.

SkaterGrrrrl · 09/02/2022 19:20

Thread filling up

If we hit 1,000 please can someone start a new one?

OP posts:
AliW79 · 09/02/2022 19:28

Is WHS confirmed for Friday or might it come tomorrow?

Firenze12 · 09/02/2022 20:09

Congratulations on the academic scholarship! Great news.

SkaterGrrrrl · 09/02/2022 22:58

Thanks Firenze, she worked hard.

Good luck for everyone waiting on WHS!

@SkaterGrrrrl it was a no for us at LEH too ...super news on the academic scholarship at surbiton though !

SkaterGrrrrl · 10/02/2022 06:44

How is your DD feeling about LEH Benny? I knew as soon as I saw the skinny letter!

DD was disappointed in the sense that it's never nice to get a rejection letter, but is mostly chilled.

We are just waiting for Radnor House letter now, but really we have already decided to accept SHS.

OP posts:
Pigtastic · 10/02/2022 07:32

Still waiting for KGS, LU, G&L and Emanuel here. All should come out tomorrow.
I cannot wait to know and to put the 11+ behind me!!!

How is everyone else feeling?

travelturtle · 10/02/2022 07:42

@Pigtastic similar list here. Radnor today then LU, Emanuel and Ibstock tomorrow. It’s an anxious wait for tomorrow. Good luck!

AliW79 · 10/02/2022 07:46

Waiting on jags here today, then WHS and SCHS tomorrow. Feeling fortunate to have PHS but DD leaning towards JAGS as she loves the music department there so we are holding our breath today.

puzzledmom · 10/02/2022 08:53

SPG results are out. It's a no for us; hope DD isn't too disappointed; at least we got yes from LEH yesterday to balance it out

Meimng · 10/02/2022 08:56

Congrats to all DDs! Looking forward to discussion around which offer to pick!!

whatinname · 10/02/2022 08:58

@puzzledmom sorry to hear that. Really good to know you have offer from a very good school. I wish your DD very best of luck!

squirrelofsw19 · 10/02/2022 09:00

Congrats on the offers, commiserations on the nos, hang on in there everyone else! There are obviously a lot of bright, talented and sensible DDs in SW London who will thrive wherever they go and make a positive difference to the world. I hope they all have happy and fulfilling school years ahead of them. Good luck all!!

LAgirl · 10/02/2022 09:04

Hear hear @squirrelofsw19 Smile

LAgirl · 10/02/2022 09:07

We have waitlist for SPGS but not hoping for anything as I don't know where she is on the waitlist.
Waiting for G&L NHEHS and LU tomorrow - hopefully one of them will be a firm yes and put us (me) out of this misery!! DD on the other hand not really bothered!

Broccolimagic · 10/02/2022 09:21

@squirrelofsw19 lovely message, thank you. I am going to make a point of looking back at it tomorrow if we get bad news.

HighRopes · 10/02/2022 10:08

I hadn’t expected the email this early, so just spotted that dd has an SPGS offer! I am so relieved.

Fingers crossed for everyone on waiting lists and waiting for offers.

squirrelofsw19 · 10/02/2022 10:18

Congrats HighRopes. Maths interview can’t have been too bad then and, if I remember correctly, lovely you’ll have two at the same school.

Meimng · 10/02/2022 10:19

Congrats @HighRopes !
