I watched with interest the information and support on this thread www.mumsnet.com/Talk/secondary/4177427-PART-3-SW-London-Girls-Indies-11-Results-Decisions-Panic-Over and wanted to start the same thread for South West London parents with daughters who will be applying for secondaries (independents and grammar) for places in year 7 in Sept 2022.

Where are you applying, how are the virtual open days going..... and to tutor or not to tutor?

Thank you @RM46 and to your DD too! Mine cannot wait for this evening and no more exams Grin

Tralalalala21 · 11/01/2022 14:00

Oh god- I remember the LU queues from 2 years ago. DS had a 2.30 slot and he had done another exam in the morning! It was pitch black outside when I picked him up and he looked totally exhausted so I mentally wrote the whole thing off!
He’s currently still on holiday as they don’t go back until after the 11plus day! Good luck!

SophyRivenhall · 11/01/2022 14:10

Good luck to your DD @LAgirl!

@RM46, DD's was at 8am. The queue was already long at 7.50. DD told me there were 25 children to a room. Her group's collection point was the same as that of two other groups and there were plenty of other collection points for the same time.

As for the exam, she said english was fine but maths was hard. That was her last exam which is a relief. But now we have an anxious wait for first round decisions and the even more anxious wait for final decisions....aargh!

LAgirl · 11/01/2022 17:22

@SophyRivenhall @RM46 thank you! She said it was 'fine' Hmm! After some prodding she also said maths was more challenging than english. Who knows! Now we wait!

All the very best to your DDs xx

Harley100 · 11/01/2022 18:05

For LU, do you know when they let us know about interviews?
Worried as he left out 3 math questions (worth 5 marks in total) and guessed a few of the English Comprehension questions...
We wait in angst!

Westlondonmom22 · 11/01/2022 18:30

@RM46 And @LAgirl wondering how did your DD find LU compared to SPG?

SophyRivenhall · 11/01/2022 18:58

@Harley100, according to the email LU sent last week, interview invitations will be sent on or before 21 January while candidates who are not invited for interview will be told as soon as possible in January.

Westlondonmom22 · 11/01/2022 19:04

@SophyRivenhall it is a long wait… I hope we hear from most schools by Friday. I am exhausted and so is my DD!

Harley100 · 11/01/2022 19:05

Thank you @SophyRivenhall!

RM46 · 11/01/2022 19:24

@Westlondonmom22 mine said she found LU easier than SPGS overall. I believe we find out about LU “on or before 21 Jan” according to the email I received about today’s arrangements @Harley100

Harley100 · 11/01/2022 19:41

Thank you @@Westlondonmom22 ! Can't wait for the torture to be over!

Westlondonmom22 · 11/01/2022 19:42

@RM46 mine too.
No news from LEH still…

RM46 · 11/01/2022 20:00

@Westlondonmom22 interestingly though, mine “enjoyed” the SPGS papers more - thought the papers at SPGS were more interesting to do (I think because that comprehension paper was something a bit different to the bog standard multiple choice comprehension, creative writing and maths).
Nope no word from LEH as yet…

SophyRivenhall · 11/01/2022 20:02

@Westlondonmom22, it sure is a long wait. As LEH said mid-Jan, maybe we find out next week?

According to the email we received from St Benedict's, HMC London schools had agreed to post offers on 10 February 2022.I didn't know which schools were included in the HMC but found this list which I includes all but one of the schools DD has applied for: www.hmc.org.uk/schools/ I assume those which send offers by email will do so on the 11th?

Westlondonmom22 · 11/01/2022 21:25

Thanks @SophyRivenhall. We will hear from all by 11th of Feb I think. I just wondered about the next stage which I think it should all be by this Friday, apart from LU. Where else did you DD apply to?

LAgirl · 12/01/2022 07:34

@Westlondonmom22 yes agree with @RM46 she found the St. Paul's paper more interesting and was quite happy when she came out of the exam. She said the maths was equally hard on both but English at LU easier.

Mumalsoasfriend · 12/01/2022 14:54

SPGS 2 round results out?

Westlondonmom22 · 12/01/2022 15:03

@mumalsoafriend we have not. The website says 12th! Anyone heard?

sugar001 · 12/01/2022 15:11

SPGS second stage email received now. My DD go through to interview feel delighted and exhausted in other side. Waiting games not over yet.

puzzledmom · 12/01/2022 15:12

@Westlondonmom22 @Mumalsoasfriend yes we just got an email with invitation to interview.

Justlikingit · 12/01/2022 15:16

Hello, just joining as not sure this is perfect fit for us, but no other thread relevant.

DD sat the JAGS chance 12+ exams last week. So for year 8 entry. I believe there is a 2nd round. Has anyone’s DD sat this too? Not sure when this is, in letter, just said in the coming weeks.

Does being invited to sit the exams mean there are places available? Or is it just to fill places if they become available?

Anyone done any other 12+ exams?

Justlikingit · 12/01/2022 15:17

Congratulations to @puzzledmom and @sugar001 DDs. When was the the exam?

Westlondonmom22 · 12/01/2022 15:23

@puzzledmom and @sugar001 what time did your emails arrive? Any one got a no yet?
@lagirl @RM46 @HighRopes any news?

puzzledmom · 12/01/2022 15:30

@Westlondonmom22 around 3 pm. DH got the email about 15 mins before me so I would assume still going out.

Westlondonmom22 · 12/01/2022 15:31

Thanks @puzzledmomSmile
