SW London Girls' Private & Grammar - applying for year 7 in 2022

I watched with interest the information and support on this thread www.mumsnet.com/Talk/secondary/4177427-PART-3-SW-London-Girls-Indies-11-Results-Decisions-Panic-Over and wanted to start the same thread for South West London parents with daughters who will be applying for secondaries (independents and grammar) for places in year 7 in Sept 2022.

Where are you applying, how are the virtual open days going..... and to tutor or not to tutor?

@Westlondonmom22 she did CEM and interview in St Paul's yesterday. They arranged a special day for the overseas kids, there were 5 girls altogether. So we don't need to come later extra for the interview.
G&L will only announce the results on Monday, 10th. We currently have tickets for the 9th, since my daughter has missed the week of school already, I would prefer to fly back home.
But if G&L would only do the interviews in person it would be to much hustle to fly back and than get back to London on Thursday already. I'm on a fence about this one.
Plus there not that many flights now, and changing them is so much trouble.
For the moment I don't know which date to change it to. The 10th after we know the results or to the 15th for after the interview. If I get it for the 10th and than she gets the interview, than we would stay and I change the tickets. Of if I change them to the 15th and she doesn't get the interview than there's no point of staying and I would need to change the tickets...
and since it's easyJet they are non-refundable, so I can only change the dates and pay extra for that. So it's a bit complicated. Waiting for G&L to reply, hopefully they will today. So far I got an auto response, saying that they get lots of emails and asked the parents to be patient.

@confusedmomfromBerlin it is a shame that G&L would not do the same and interview yesterday. How was the spgs interview? Was it academic or more general. The best thing is probably wait until you hear to book your flight. Maybe you can ask them to do the interview online ?

@RM46 and @HighRopes have you heard from LEH yet? What about G&L?
How did you DD find KGS?

No, not heard yet from PHS or LEH. Hoping PHS comes through today and fingers crossed for good news 🤞My daughter didn’t do G&L.
Yes mine did KSG yesterday - she said it was “fine”… so let’s see.

@RM46 I think KGS was much easier after SPGS exam. Good luck for LEH and PHS. One more to go

@Westlondonmom22 G&L acquired Redcliffe Gardens primary school in 2020, so not sure how much of a factor that is and whether it's going to turn into a feeder school...

Anyone heard from Putney yet? Do they do all the ‘second stage’ emails first? And then the ‘no’ ones later if at all?

@LAgirl DD applied to SPGS,G&L,LEH ,LU and KGS. How did your DD find SPGS exam?

@LAgirl that would make it harder for sure. I do wonder how many got through to interview and how many they will offer. I guess nothing to do now but wait . xx

haha @sunshinesanddunes i was wondering the same thing - later in the day means no?? Not a peep from Putney, but G&L earlier than they said! x

@Westlondonmom22 she was in very high spirits after SPGS - not sure what to make of it as I get 'fine' after all exams, whether good or bad. I think she was very happy she attempted all sections of the comprehension paper which she hadn't managed to on the samples.

Still no PHS email here, either.

@Westlondonmom22 We haven’t applied to LEH or the other ones you mentioned. So we’re just waiting to hear from PHS and SPGS about the next stage.

Our Putney email came at 16:40, it was a yes so I think they are coming in late. A friend of my daughter’s found out 45 minutes before she did. Why so late, it is very stressful. 🤞

Is LU still doing the exam next week in person? Sheer nosiness as I have a child there and was wondering whether or not it was still going ahead at school?

The Putney email finally came through around 7.00 last night, dd is through to the Athena assessment. But the email doesn’t say when they will let us know about offers, does anyone know that date?

We received the PHS email at 10:10 pm last night. Thanks god we thought we were not in as the earlier email came in around 3 pm.

Congrats to your daughter @HighRopes - it said in the email we received that results will be emailed mid Feb And replies must be received by 12 noon Monday 7 March. Bizarrely we received one email around 3.30 yesterday and then another one (thankfully saying the same thing!) around 9.30pm last night
