I watched with interest the information and support on this thread www.mumsnet.com/Talk/secondary/4177427-PART-3-SW-London-Girls-Indies-11-Results-Decisions-Panic-Over and wanted to start the same thread for South West London parents with daughters who will be applying for secondaries (independents and grammar) for places in year 7 in Sept 2022.

Where are you applying, how are the virtual open days going..... and to tutor or not to tutor?

@SkaterGrrrrl ...Nothing from LEH ...think possibly the end of next week ...looking at previous years threads I think they post on a friday so Im guessing the 14th ...how did your DD find the surbiton interview ...mine is sitting hers next week ..wasnt sure what to make of the 'academic' bit

Hi @Westlondonmom22 - my DD did SPGS today, she really enjoyed the day overall so it sounds like they made a big effort to make it as fun as you can make a day of exams! She said the maths was v hard but she enjoyed the comprehension paper and said the English was fine

@RM46 . Is your dd doing LU? I can’t wait for it to all be finished my nerves can’t take it anymore

Yes @Westlondonmom22 mine is also doing LU next week and she has Kingston Grammar tomorrow. Can’t wait for it to be over now!! She’s also done Putney High, Surbiton, LEH as well as SPGS. Good luck to your DD

Hi Benny, DD thought she did 'medium' in the interview. We'd thought about typical questions like favourite subject, book, why do you want to come here etc so that bit was fine. I guess the academic bit was to see how they think and answer unrehearsed....

@Westlondonmom22 Mine came out happy! But we'll see how it all goes. There were 420 girls doing the exam today.
She also has an interview for Francis Holland Regent Park tomorrow and we are waiting for an email from G&L next week.
But so far she only talks of St Paul's and really wants to go there.

Dd found it tiring! I didn’t hear much beyond the middle maths paper was the hardest, she enjoyed the English and the comprehension paper was interesting. Also she liked the food

Great thread.
We have a guaranteed place at Sutton and interviewed at Surbiton yesterday. The interview went well but now thinking from reading comments that most people get selected for interview at Surbiton anyway?!!
Which school would be better?

Sutton has been good for DD but she is keen for a change.
Also waiting for LEH. However she is a nervous anxious worrier- worried that the environment will.not be great for her

Hi @FunkyT we have a place at Sutton and really considering it as we loved the feel of the school so am keen to hear your replies. When you say you have a guaranteed place, do you mean your daughter is already there in the primary school? If so, why does she want to change? Has she been unhappy or is it just because she wants new friends etc? We weren’t as keen on Surbiton because it is so much bigger - but DD has her interview this week too - everyone from our prep who applied got an interview whereas some were not given a place at Sutton this year or on the waiting list, so I’m wondering about Sutton being more selective, but maybe Surbiton will lose more after this interview stage. Our DD gets anxious too and I worry she would get a bit ‘lost’ in a bigger school. We haven’t looked at LEH as a bit far out for us, even with the coaches. These decisions are so hard but my DD seems more keen currently on Sutton over Surbiton - it’s such a personal choice though and I wouldn’t want to say one is better than the other, just different. They definitely had a different feel to them, even though both girls.

For anyone wondering about Francis Holland SS, we got a placeholder email today saying they will let us know re times for 19 Jan but it will be a 2 hour session.
I think Putney High interviews are also on the same day? Has anyone already heard from Putney? or LEH?

@LAgirl, I received the email from FHSS too. Putney emailed on Tuesday to say they would be in touch on Friday re the next stage.

DD sat St Benedict's today. We have LU left but at least it is the end of VR and non-VR revision.

@SophyRivenhall DD has LU left as well! We're going to bin all her mock papers and VR/NVR crap on Tuesday evening!

@confusedmomfromBerlin do you know the confirmed number of spaces they will offer? I imagine they will not over offer at all. We should hear from them on the 12th? Are you staying to do the interviews in person?

@Westlondonmom22 , all schools over offer, even the top ones and St Paul's is competing with the free places at Tiffin and the boarding schools esp Wycombe Abbey. If you look at the Kensington Prep offers list for 2021 they had 12 offers from St Paul's although I agree the acceptance rate will have been high.

@Westlondonmom22 I was hoping for the SPGS email on 12th as that’s what their admissions booklet says, but the recent email about stage 2 says 13th.

The next few days will go very slowly I can’t wait for this to be over!! I agree is a bit confusing regarding the date . I wonder when LEH will send the email?

@Westlondonmom22 I do not know the exact number of offers, I'm afraid.
She did two interviews today, but probably we won't stay longer, have to get back to Berlin.

Has anybody received any feedback from PHS?

DD has the LU exams on the 11th and this will be the end of the written exams and will see about interview. So far she sat Tiffins, Emanuel, PHS, KGS and G&L.

Pigtastic - nothing yet, but expecting an email today.

I was wondering what the PHS Athena assessment is. Exams? Interviews? Group work? Does anyone from last year’s thread know?

My other DD sat the PHS exams last year and there was no Athena assessment, just a normal online interview.

I'm sure that they will let us know when they communicate about the invitation. I expect something similar to WHS.
