D of E volunteering within science or engineering area

Hi All,
I am looking for ideas and suggestions for volunteering which have a science content (physics/chemistry) or maybe engineering of some sort of any sort ! Not looking for anything other the too, just trying to find something that may have some connection with interest/studies.
Online is fine.

Are they still able to volunteer online? Zooniverse has various studies you can support.

Run/assist at a primary school (or KS3) science club?
Challenges include

• making a compass
• making the strongest bridge you can from uncooked spaghetti
• the old favourite coke & mints

etc

How about tutoring? My DD1 tutored a Year 8 girl in maths for 6 months for her silver.

Someone is going to teach dd2 guitar for 6 months for her silver D of E. It's not an unusual thing to do.

DS is really enjoying his work on Zooniverse. His is identifying mitochondria on placental tissue slides

Contact local museums?

@Forfifty we didnt think it was an option ! do you use some intermediary/charity ? or is it just privately organised? who is the assessor in that case?

@TeenMinusTests because of COVID the primary here do not let visitors in, but it's a great idea. I am making a mental note of it.

The girls mother signed it off. My DD kept a log of each lesson she gave.

I'm not sure who will sign off dd2's guitar lessons. I would guess someone at their school would do it.

Not a voluntarily suggestion, but the Smallpiece Trust provide STEM activities and experiences. My son has been on a couple and loved them.
