Hello. Does anyone have insights on Sir John Lawes (SJL) in Harpenden? The last OFSTED was in 2008, so would love to hear more recent views. How was their lockdown learning provision?

Also, are there any school buses? Is there one from Wheathampsted direction?

Thank you.

I'm also interested to know what this and St George's are like. We are considering moving into the area. Thanks

I wouldn’t count on getting into SJL from Wheathamstead. I think the new secondary school will be where most end up. All the established Harpenden schools are very good academically but whether or not they are right for your child is a different question!

Thank you so much for the response. I think because of KW, the weight is slightly off Roundwood Park and SJL. It seems some are opting for KW over the two. How is the pastoral care at SJL? Are the children challenged within reason to attain their potential or is the pressure intense? Thanks.

I think you are right that KWS is opening up more places at SJL although I'm not sure if that would extend out to Wheathampstead.

SJL has brilliant results. I don't know much about the culture though. I think the new KWS school looks really exciting and would think that could be a good bet too but nobody really knows yet and it is a bit untested.

Thank you so much. Yes, this year is interesting. I think it is the first confidence has truly grown in KW, so there were actually spaces in SJL and Roundwood Park up to the second run of Continuing Interest.
