Regrets over 11+ choice. What next?

Given how strange this year's 11+ was I'm sure I won't be the only one in this position.

What do you do if you realize the school you've selected (sight unseen as no tours were possible) is just not the right fit? As we get closer to offer holders day I feel like I am filling with dread from the toes upward. We had a terrible time selecting the school from the offers we received. None felt like a great fit; possibly because of stunted tours, stress of the 11+, etc. I rely on my gut feeling with this sort of thing and never got to put it to use.

I'm fairly certain we chose the wrong one. Next we go to offer day and then what? Contact the other school I regret giving up and beg for a wait list spot? I can not imagine entering dc into a 13+ exam scenario after the stress of last year so no plans to re-test in a formal way.

What a disaster. I wish we could swap with offer holders after we finally get to see the schools..

so sorry to hear you're in that situation, how stressful.

Tomorrow morning you take a deep breath, remember how lucky you are to have secured a place and phone your preferred school asking for an occasional place.

I'd be upfront about the whole thing and start building a long term connection with the person on the phone as I assume you'll call them occasionally.

it's not all lost.

How does your DC feel about it ?
If I was the only one involved I would do as misscamden suggests but you need to take into consideration DC.

great point @11plusNewbie I tend to forget that part Grin

be careful on this - if you withdraw your acceptance now you will lose the deposit and you risk being stung for a term's fees as you are not giving a full term's notice?

There must be a reason you chose that school - why not give the offer holders' day a chance and then decide?
