Extracurricular activities at secondary

My son is moving up to year 7 in Sept. I am sure it varies generally how often do kids stay after school for extracurricular activities?

That would be fine I think, main thing is that they turn up each week at the practices and are interested rather than at set level at least at ours. Generally they also take music GCSE later on though no requirement.

DC's school orchestra accepts beginners (and is not fussy as to instrument either). Probably depends on the school/orchestra as to whether they aim for inclusive i.e. anyone can join or insist on a certain standard.
