Creative Digital Media Production - BTEC

My DD (Y9) is currently choosing GSCE options and I would be grateful to hear any thoughts on Creative Digital Media Production BTEC (Pearson)?

She is taking usual GSCEs of English Lang, Lit, Maths, Biology, Chemistry, Physics and has chosen Geography, Spanish and PE GCSE and has one more option. She had been trying to decide between Drama or History GCSE but when we reviewed all the options again, she alighted on this one. She thinks the study of media sectors/audiences etc sounds really interesting and likes the idea of producing a video.

I'd appreciate if anyone could give some insights about balance of course between analysis/understanding of media techniques and actually doing the creating?
Thanks!

OP there is another thread on this (tho I think it's a different board so slightly different spec) with some useful thoughts.

She has a good balance of options as it stands so if this is of interest to her then it sounds good.

Thanks @clary, I had seen the other thread but confess it confused me even more about the content because the thread linked the subject to Computer Science. When I did a search, I found some older threads suggesting DC who loved photography etc were keen and I was concerned that maybe my DD - who is more interested in the analysis/theory of media messaging etc - might struggle. Thanks for saying she has a good balance of subjects - I think this could be an excellent choice for her but just have lingering concerns it is too "arty" and she'll not enjoy because of this

Yes my DS in Y11 is doing it currently. He has really enjoyed it up. They had to do 3 big assessments over the 2 years. The first 2 he really enjoyed, they were all about analysing media content. The most recent one has been more challenging as they had to do a mock up of a dvd and then a film magazine. He is not in the least bit arty so found this quite tricky however they are graded on the analysis of what they did (impact, design etc) not the art work itself. He has got 2 distinctions so far. I think the other post is about a completely different BTEC as it’s definitely not anything to do with computers.

Thanks @ihearttc, that's really helpful. I've tried searching for more info on syllabus but just can't find anything. But what you have said (especially around how they are graded) has reassured me that this could be a good choice for my DD.
Any other views or experiences would be welcome!

Have finally found the spec on line and reassured that this looks a great introduction to creative media production - film, radio, websites etc. Would still appreciate hearing from anyone else whose DC have done this course.
