Hi,
Seen previous threads but these were from a while ago. Would like to hear honest opinions on how good the school is for children who are not white. Have some friends whose daughters go to the school and they have very mixed opinions on the school. Thanks for reading, would really appreciate anyone's opinions

In terms of the education, it tends to be the same whether you’re white or not. If you’re worried about it being “too white”, maybe have a look at Greycoat. That’s possibly more diverse but comparable in terms of its CoE ethos and academics.

I considered Lady Margeret's for sixth form for my daughter and we went to an open evening Autumn 2019. The current Y11s also attended (not sure why as it was so packed i felt they could have done it as part of their school day). Anyway there was definitely a significant number of minorities in the population of the (then) Y11s.
It has a very good reputation and good results. We didn't pursue it for a few reasons: the open evening was poorly run, so overcrowded it was impossible to talk to any teachers and the girl showing us and another family did not take any of the seven A levels the two girls were considering (it would have been simple to pair girls by subject interest as done at other schools), there were no dedicated sixth form spaces - no sixth form centre or study hall or anything. We were coming from a private school and I had warned my daughter it wouldn't have all the bells and whistles she was used to, but she pointed out in the end that those bells and whistles do count.
But in terms of diversity I though it seemed as diverse as any school, especially considering the area it was in, and as they all get the same education presumably they get similiar results.

@newchiswickmum I wonder if you could ask the school if they have any diversity data: BAME achievement rates compared to the non BAME, whether the staff profile matches the student profile, the profile of the 6th form compared to the rest of the school.

Regrettably imo the school grew out of the site when the year group increased from 90 to 120.

Agree with Pp about the size of the site, but it is a very good school and if you are close enough to it to get a place, you are lucky! My cousins both went there and thrived. I can’t say anything about the diversity as I don’t know the answer to that, but have only heard positive things.

It's an excellent school, you are lucky to offered a place there, and you would be stupid to turn it down on diversity grounds.

Great school! Would highly recommend
