What are private schools saying as last day for Year 11’s this year ?

I’d love to know!

The thing is though-

  1. Independent schools aren’t a homogeneous group- what one does won’t necessarily influence another.
  2. Most of them haven’t decided yet!

Ours has said there will be a program of activities after May half term but they are optional. Some fun stuff (they usually put on some sort of show), some pre A level stuff. I've heard other schools doing the same. Prom should go ahead too.
My daughter is planning to opt out...but we are moving to another for sixth form anyway.

Thank @Midlifephoenix @AppleKatie it is daunting to think of them off for 3 months !! Ours has an optional ‘certificate’ of some sort but don’t imagine after teachers grades handed in that they will want to do much. DS boards so more likely to just be fooling around. Rumours are we will either do the “certificate” or leave. Think maybe at half term ! Hope fee reduction if leave ! State schools saying year 11 leave 28/5.

The DofE have said the last day in school is the last Friday in June. Which seems completely unworkable as all the grades have to be in by the 18th June...

More details coming out on April 1st apparently.

I appreciate that’s for state schools but the grades will have to be in for the same date so I imagine they will follow the same lines.

In reality I imagine most independents will keep them working until mid June and then offer 2-3weeks if activities or sixth form bridging depending on the school/term length.

Because of concerns about parents wanting a fee reduction which the schools can’t afford.

Of course if the pandemic had never happened they would have finished at the same time/earlier with weeks of off timetabled study leave and nobody would have expected a fee reduction.
