Hockerill

Hi everyone
I just wanted to find out more about Hockerill from other parents. My DD has received an offer from Hockerill and also from an independent school. Hockerill appears to be a very god school with high standards so we are torn between the two offers. Any reviews most welcome. I just want to make sure we make the right decision 🙂

We are also interested by Hockerill. I've heard it's a great school, I was just put off by the Saturday school aspect. I'd be interested to see what others say. I mean, wow, if DC got a place at such a ggod school I don't know why you would want to pay, but that's why it's great you've asked.

Can I ask, do you live close or was it through aptitude tests or flexiboarding? Sorry to answer your question with a question.

Hello, from what I have heard and seen virtually it is a great school, it’s a shame we couldn’t visit the school due to Covid. We live outside Bishops Stotford but are looking to move closer to Hockerill. Our DD got the offer for through the language aptitude tests.
I am interested to hear what other parents think of the school before we uproot our whole family for the school, it is a life changing decision for our family. We are so grateful that she has been accepted as it potentially means we won’t have to stretch ourselves to pay fees.

Hockerill is a financial black hole though given Covid, they are really struggling as they have lost heaps of income from boarding. Good school but risky.

Hockerill Anglo-European College...

My son is going to secondary school next year and I would like to have opinions about Hockerill Anglo-European College.

I know its very hard to get into Hockerill as a day schooler.

Im after advice and experiences about Hockerill ....

We are very pleased with Hockerill. For us, it has offered exactly what it said it would, and a little more in some areas. They handled remote learning incredibly in my view, & there was zero ‘lost time’ in getting to grips with MS Teams etc. The College has a bring your own device approach, so the students were already familiar with working via their laptops & navigating several applications. They have been very communicative with parents re. Covid management & anything else that cropped up along the way. Covid management is complex at the school given so many students are international students & travel/quarantine periods. Nice mix of day & boarding students. Lovely medical centre staff. Very progressive in terms of EDI & global world issues, esp. relative to friends I know at other local independent and state schools. They have a relatively new head, with vast international experience in the IB delivery, most recently head in Switzerland and Singapore so am hoping lots of scope for transferring knowledge. He seems nice as do most parents that I’ve met- a real mixture & lovely international feel. New science and sports centre, though no swimming pool on site, so that’s worth considering if your child would like to swim/swims semi-pro. Had some complaints about the food, school taken on board the feedback. We are happy with our choice.
