Cambridge/Impington Village College

Hi, we are moving to a Cambridge village shortly and have been allocated IVC (Impington Village College) as the secondary school. I see that there is a new headteacher. Anyone know what this school is like? I have two very bright kids and am a bit worried they will get swallowed up in this big school! Thanks!

Impington is lovely and very handy for cambridge. I have friends with DC at IVC and they love it so hopefully you will too, I don’t know of anything negative tbh.

IVC is one of the best secondaries around here. You're very lucky, frankly.

It's got a good reputation and has just federated with Chesterton Community College which is further into Cambridge and is also very good. Your kids will be fine OP!

Thank you!

You are very lucky to have been alloacted on an in year admission as it is one of the schools in the area that people try to move into catchment to get into. Your bright kids will fit in fine as it does very well in exams and although they will have the option to go into Cambridge to Hills Road for A levels IVC itself offers the IB so gives you other options.

It is actually not classed as a "big" school round here and is fairly standard size.

I know (bright) kids there and they're very happy. We'd have been happy to send DD there (but went for a closer option). Because of the employment (university / tech / biotech companies) in the area, there are many able kids in most of the local schools.

Thanks very much!
