Hi, can someone please tell me about 11 plus?
Is it one exam to enter few different grammar schools or does my need to sit for 11 plus exam in each school such as the first choice and second choice and so on?

Depends where you are ie. in Kent there is a test which applies to several schools but a few set their own.

MechantGourmet · 02/03/2021 18:12

Everywhere is different- look on the 11+ forum, and find your local area, it will be far more relevant.

MissFlite · 02/03/2021 18:14

It really does depend where you are as counties often have very different arrangements.

XelaM · 02/03/2021 21:38

In London most schools set their own 11+ test, but a few schools use the ISEB or CEM common entrance exams where you only need to sit one exam. What schools are you planning on targeting?

JoyL0804 · 04/03/2021 18:21

I am in the process of moving to Welwyn garden city and targeting on Dame Alice Owen in potters bar or parmiters school in Watford.

There is a great 11+ forum separated into different areas of the country here

There will be very specific advice on your schools there.

DAO is a great school. It has 2 rounds of assessments - VR/Maths/English. You can also apply for a music place.

XelaM · 04/03/2021 20:24

DAO is incredibly competitive, as there are very few places, but I know a number of kids this year who got in.

Move within 350m of DAO and you can get a distance place.

mellicauli · 16/03/2021 22:45

I don't think WGC is not in catchment for Parmiters. Very few places to compete for at DAO either (45)

JoyL0804 · 19/03/2021 13:20

Thank you to orangeblossom, after your comment I am now considering/looking for a place near DAO instead of Welwyn Garden City, not much luck near the school though but have seen a few in cuffley, which is about 5 miles, I am hoping that would suffice their catchment criteria. I am confident that my son would do well in his entrance exam but want to cover all possibilities.
