Y11/13 when will be their end of year?

DD is in Y11, with the teacher assessments needing to be submitted by June 18th, is this then the end of their academics for the year? If it's possible by then, I'd quite like to take DD away for a weekend to celebrate, and it would be great if we could take advantage of an earlier end to the term.

I'm sure school will tell us soon enough once they're fully briefed themselves, but I wondered if anyone's school had given dates out yet?

Nothing yet!
I am hoping there will be some fun, social, creative, sporty interesting etc. activities or opportunities to learn outside of exam curriculum... put on for them after such a rough time.... maybe even to normal end of term, or near enough. But might be wishful thinking!

Yes, hoping they'll be able to make up for some lost time in extra-curricular, abandoned DoE expeditions, prom etc.

ASCL emailed school leaders today to say they’re pushing the government to decide on a date so schools can inform parents.

Our school (private) has said it's optional after May half term. Grades will have already been decided on (about two weeks before being submitted as the teachers need to indicate they are evidentiary). There will be a program of events and some pre A level work but my daughter is moving to another school for sixth form so doubt she will participate much. I would imagine same for Upper sixth - they'd normally stop after the exams anyway.

We’ve been advised informally that there will be no school at all after may half term. Wtf will they do for three months! And exam results on 10 and 12 august for a-level/GCSEs respectively.

My Ds’s school has said 28th May but they hope to have some celebration/leavers events after that

@Tangohead Last year’s Y11s effectively finished school at the first lockdown so had 6 months with minimal work to do! Schools did not bother setting work after Easter when it was announced that exams would not take place - they would have been revising, not learning new stuff, at that stage anyway. There was a bit of bridging/summer work for those returning to 6th form. But it was not arduous

Year 13 parent and my DD will finish school on the 23th June. So after grades need to be in then provisional date for prize giving, leavers tea and ball.

My yr 13 will finish academics at half term and there will be optional activities after that till the very beginning of July when they hope to have leavers stuff. Tentatively she might go in part-time at that point depending on exactly what's timetabled. She's hoping to get some more rowing in though!

My yr 11 will I think have 6th form preparation / tasters till the end of term. His school tried that last year and found it eased the transition in 1st term. In particular they've said they will make it possible for them to try out more subjects than they plan to take to help with final subject choices for the uncertain. I really like the sound of that - his short-list of subjects had 2-3 definites and 3-4 serious contenders. (you really don't want to hear the whole long list lol). One of his probable subjects could be swapped out and done as extra curricular depending on what he really thinks of the other choices.
