Wrong birthdate on school application

Can anyone advise? I’ve just logged on to receive my child’s school application outcome and we have a place at our preferred school.

I’ve just noticed though that I put my own birthday instead of DC’s; we’re a few days apart and so it obviously didn’t register as incorrect when I edited the form.

Will this invalidate the application?! I’m panicking...

I assume you mean the day of the month rather than the year Smile. No it wont invalidate your application as places aren't allocated in birthday order.

When your child starts the school you'll be given a plethera of forms to fill in. Just fill in the correct dob on those.

Yes, I mean the day - I’m clearly panicking so much I can’t write properly.

Thank you; your reply has calmed me down Flowers

You won't be the only person nationally that made a mistake.

Day of birth, month, house number, telephone number etc

People make typos all the time.

None of that information affects the place given.

The only time it would matter is if it's affected a place. Birthday doesn't have any effect.

Glad you got the preferred place.

No, that won't invalidate your application. The date of birth plays no part in the admissions process (other than making sure you are applying for the right year), so no-one can argue that you've gained an unfair advantage by mis-stating your child's date of birth.

Thank you both Smile

Dates of birth are used in calculating results of standardised tests, but a few days out will probably make little or no difference.

Sorry, you said school application, not entrance exam! Ignore me!
