Charterhouse School

We are considering Charterhouse as our 3rd option school. Questions I have which makes it 3rd choice are that on webinars they don’t seem to ‘sell themselves’. Don’t need to be flashy but I fear if they are too passive in how they sell themselves then how do they develop pupils to assert themselves in what is a world.
2nd worry is their sport provision-lots of football but would they support County cricket ? Maybe..... but son also County Tennis Player which seems limited in support for tennis.
Would be boarding.

Have no fear the kids come out full of self confidence! My stepson went there. I only remember going to cricket matches, no idea about other sports, but I think being sporty is a plus there.
I took him back after summer break once and was surprised to see him hug his friends hello - real bonds are formed.
He also definitely pushed himself up a level academically as it is very competitive (he knew his ranking in each class). Another benefit was it was close to home (sw London) so he came back many weekends (with numerous friends in tow).

Hi, we too are considering Charterhouse, we didn’t apply earlier but there is Headmasters list which takes 25% candidates. My son already attends prep school in Hertfordshire. And my DS is preparing for ISEB to appear this autumn term in year 7 around Oct 21. What I want to know is what extra did your son prepare like any online platforms apart from BOFA, Atom learning you have used for preparation. How was the interview & the activity day? Please advise. Thank you

Hi! Coming from a Carthusian here: Don't worry about the passive advertising of the school - school life at Charterhouse is anything but passive! It's actually incredibly busy and full-on! I know when I was applying, admissions were really efficient with answering individual questions in my experience as well.
I know that county level sport is thoroughly respected and praised at Charterhouse - really skilled pupils are awarded a tie or pin for special dedication to a sport, or arts, or academic achievement.
The whole of the summer term is filled with cricket matches so there's always a lot on, in terms of that.
County level tennis as well is highly praised and encouraged and I believe pupils were stretched a lot. There were some incredible tennis players in my house.
