Experiences with Skinners Academy, Hackney?

We are considering this school for our DC (eldest in yr 4) but have spoken to other parents at their primary school who have older kids in yr 6 and there isn't a lot of enthusiasm for the school.
Those well within catchment are taking a punt on schools much further away rather than put Skinners as their first choice.

Can I ask if anyone has kids at the school and is happy with it? GCSE results seem average for inner city London secondaries and going by their social media they do lots of enrichment activities.

Without probing parents i know too much in person I'm interested to know what put them off.

I don't know much about it other than it is somewhat new and built to merge a failing girls school. It is in a very deprived area though so might be why not many parents on here with an opinion. A girl in my daughter's class went there, is now in Y8 and as far as I know she is happy, but they haven't exactly had a lot of time in school.

Thanks @lpsandmore I didnt realise it was a previously failing girls' school. Yes, I get the impression the intake is on the whole quite poor which doesn't put me off but I guess parents might worry about that.

It was about 10 years ago I believe. Skinner's Girls had a campus in Stamford hill and in clapton. It was one of the worst schools in the country. I think as with any inner city school you need to know answers to things like behaviour management etc. It is bang in the middle of a huge estate which brings its own difficulties into the picture. Im pretty sure you could get a place for Hornsey school for girls from where you are though, if you're near Skinner's. It's a really great school.

Thanks @lpsandmore that's useful to know
