Is it possible still to do AS maths or has it totally been abolished?

DS is in lower sixth and is looking at universities in Canada (he has dual nationality) but most want Maths AS or A level for earth sciences/oceanography which is his interest. He does Geog, Biology, Chemistry.
Thinking about whether it is possible to do as AS level in U6, especially if he starts now - but does AS level even still exist? There seem to be references still on exam board websites but I can’t work out if they are for the international market or out of date or what. Many thanks

Sorry, I don’t have a clue about the AS aspect, I thought most were redundant now and if done were in L6.

Do check with schools about equivalence. DD is doing Further Maths at GCSE and she has a pen pal in the US who says that his older brother didn’t even cover the topics she is doing in his first year at ‘college’ (University), I don’t know how accurate that is and how the US compares to Canada but the maths studied in the U.K. has really ramped up since the GCSEs were reformed a few years ago and schools in other countries may not appreciate this.

Yes AS exists and you can take it in either year. Not many centres enter for AS exams but they still exist in every subject.

Great thanks very much gumbucket. I will have a chat with the school and see if they will teach it or at least let him join a L6 maths class next year and enter him for it. I guess with the latter option I could get him a tutor to ensure he covers all the syllabus...

Pettswood - I checked with one uni and they were pretty clear they wanted AS at a minimum unfortunately

My DD is doing this which is a level 3 in maths and the same point as an AS though their school does it with gcse stats for the very top end:
