PART 3: SW London Girl's Indies 11+ Results, Decisions & Panic Over?

WELCOME TO PART 3!!

Previously…

PART 1 started by Oceane11plus in July 2020 for the SW London Girl’s 11+ 2021 cohort (pandemic year).
PART 2 continued the journey (exam pandemic panic).

Both Part 1 & 2 quickly reached the MN quota of 1000 posts!

Will PART 3 be our final episode? Keep supportively posting as we make our final decisions on offers, WL movement & starting Year 7 (hopefully post-pandemic)...

LEH have moved massively in the last 48 hours. A couple of girls in DDs prep have received places having not been in the top third of the waitlist. It’s a funny old year!

A movement like that with LEH has such a knock on effect, it means more people will take LEH and turn down Surbiton/SWPS which means they can offer to those who have Claremont Fan/Notre Dame/St Cats Twick and on it goes...

I believe all the waitlists are moving now as someone rightly pointed out that it happens the day after the state offers .
Heard G&L is going to waitlist between 9 to 11 , WHS has made a couple of offers as have LEH and Putney was moving earlier

Also remember that lots of people will have already withdrawn from the waitlist in favour of another school they got a straight offer from which was perhaps a joint favourite or one they preferred more....this means that sometimes the waitlist goes right down towards the bottom. I hope everyone gets something they are happy with by the end of the week! 🤞🤞🤞

Our wait is finally over! We were on the waiting list for SPGS. My daughter was in the top 15 girls. It’s a no from them. We are going to G&L. Anyone else going to G&L and wants to connect, please PM me. 😊

Hi @Scorpio1980 - snap! Down to the final 15 last night then game over by 9.30am this morning followed by a mad flap to get the acceptance in to G&L. In my panic, I got my online banking log in wrong twice before avoiding a third fail & lock out.

It's been so drawn out & intense that I had to come off the thread again. I was practically rocking in a darkened room last night. I'm so glad it's over & we know where we are going. Will PM you a little later. Need to run off some of this morning's stress!

Well done to everyone accepting places and getting waitlist offers. @Scorpio1980 and @PatoPato the final 15 was an incredible achievement you must be so proud of your girls. I’m sure they will have an amazing time at G&L!

The LEH bulge sounds odd.. I guess the had just over 5 classes and needed to fill out the classes from waitlist? I’m not overly familiar with the school but believe it has lots of space?

I know the GDST deadlines were today.. is everything else Friday? I’m guessing there could still be movement? Fingers crossed for those still waiting. xx

Our roller coaster still hasn't ended so to say . We got offered WHS right after putting in the deposit for LEH .
We live a stone's throw from WHS and having a serious think of whether the commute has an advantage . So exhausted doing the analysis now !

@PatoPato G&L is a fabulous school and a very nurturing one . Im sure your DD will b a superstar there as she has been through the process
@WarmAndco3y being in touch with the Registrar really helped us on the waitlist incase you are waiting for JAGS .Know a few JAGS places released from our prep today

I recommend that you start following all your new schools on Twitter, FB, Instagram etc. You will get a good flavour of what goes on day to day.

My goodness what a morning and finale to this emotional rollercoaster of a ride that we have all been on with our DD's!

I held out to the last moment and accepted Putney High offer and paid deposit at 11:55am, 5 minutes before the acceptance deadline only to receive a call from Wimbledon High less than 30 minutes later with an offer!

I accepted the Wimbledon High offer as that was my DD's first choice and then had to go grovelling back to Putney High to decline their offer after all. Sadly even though I let them know less than 1 hour after the 12 noon deadline I don't think they will repay the deposit. Probably just as well our Easter Holidays skiing trip has been cancelled by Boris so that we can take this financial hit!

Anyway, just so relieved the 11+ drama is finally over.
My thoughts and prayers for all you lovely ladies. I really hope that your DD's can all reach happy outcomes today or very very soon!

@Trialsat11 I know you have thought about this but from personal experience please don’t underestimate the commute. One of my DC relies on school bus and to be totally honest it’s painful, not to mention the expense of it too. And there is an extra charge for the late bus too (pretty sure LEH also charge extra) Makes it so much harder to accept last minute school Activities and means that if DC is slightly late arriving back to school from a match I have a 50 minutes drive to the school and a 50 minutes drive back home. This happens at least once a week (well not now clearly!!) Also means that my husband and I end up attending less school social events because it’s such a pain to get to... just something I wish someone had told me!

@bringmesun I agree and that is the reason we accepted WHS which is walking distance for us which meant DD would be very independent and can walk to early morning sports fixtures and drama practice while we can attend to her younger sister who starts school next year

Congratulations to all who accepted the offers and congratulations who got offers from WL. I have recently started following this thread and it is very useful. We are still waiting for JAGs WL to move. Finger crossed.

Argh we’re still waiting on WL!! Have received emails from schools saying will either hear by tomorrow or Friday. Wish it was all just done now. One school says they cannot offer WL until actual offer deadline has passed, which makes sense but then how do other schools manage it?!

@TrOubled it is true that the offers come very near to the deadline as the school has a clear view on their acceptances and they don't want to risk a bulge class by offering beforehand to waitlist..
We received one offer after the deadline and another just 30 min before the deadline .

@Skatingpark97 Yes! After a long sleepless night and a crazy morning we did accept it and paid the deposit. It is very difficult indeed to be sure without having visited the school. Will go back and read all posts about Wimbledon High in the following days :)) So far, everything points to positive vibes. For a long time, we were favouring IB education for our daughter and that was our biggest dilemma.
( we had an international IB option as well as Surbiton and Woldingham offer)

Then we thought she can always go for IB in sixth form if she would want to.

@Mimijoyx there are a lot of girls who move from WHS to KCS at sixth form which has IB
We know quite a few parents with DD's at the school and it has always had an image of a very nurturing as well as academic school
@Flossietea yes WHS was always our first choice because of the location and continued friendships :-)

@southwestlondonmum You should have a 14 day cooling off period if the offer and acceptance were both made via post/email. It specifically states in the t and c’s of my DC’s current school that the acceptance deposit is refundable if the contract is made by post/email and cancelled within 14 days. As a consumer, you have a right to cancel services under the Consumer Contract Regulations in the same way that you do when you buy goods online.

Congratulations to all the DDs who have got and accepted offers. Hope they and families can now relax and enjoy bit more fun in the sun🙂 Those waiting for offers , fingers crossed for you.
We had email from WHS that they have now filled all places. We had actually told them already that we had accepted offer elsewhere. They have said for those rally interested they will hold a small WL for summer.
I am glad we have settled, and DD looking forward to joining G&L.
