Does anyone have any info /advice/ thoughts about the relatively new Maida Vale school please for my daughter’s potential entry there this September in year 7?

Many thanks in advance 🙏

There are a few threads about it on the MV Parents 2 Parents Facebook group, if you're a member. Can you look there? Might be a bit niche for Mumsnet. I think the views on the school were pretty positive in general.

I think there was a thread on here recently with very positive feedback

Thank you both very much - I will check out the MV Parents Facebook group and look for threads here - 🙏🙏

Hi MVS is my daughter's first choice - the only thing I'm worried about is the number of boys to girls. Is it heavily weighted to boys?

All feedback gratefully received!

Hi - Maida Vale is also my daughter’s first choice but am finding it hard to find any similar info as well - she is more creative than academic but will do ok if pushed....🙏🙏

Friend’s daughter is in year 7 class at MVS that is more girls than boys. Loves it there and very happy.

Hello,

Any updated info on the school? Are people happy with the direction the school is taking?

Many thanks.

Hi,
Just wondering if any MV parents have any thoughts now that the school has been open a couple of years. My nephew might be starting in September. He is reasonably bright, likes some sports (tennis, golf, a bit of Rugby but not football.).

Specifically interested in:

1.Pastoral care.
2: longer lessons. I'm worried he might drift off and lose interest.

Thanks!

Hi, I am interested in Maida Vale school and was wondering if anyone here sends their child there? My DS is currently in Year 5 and needs a "gentle" school in order to bring out his best plus this one is less than a 10 minute walk from us!

What kind of test results do you need to get in? He is currently scoring right in the middle (5) on the Atom Learning ISEB tests.

I am a current parent at Maida Vale School and I would strongly advise against sending your child there. There is a heavy churn of students every year (10-15%) which is huge for a very small school. Also they take many applicants of students who can't get into other schools, so there are behaviour issues in all year groups. This year multiple families have pulled mid year, which tells you something is wrong. The academics are untested and the 1st GCSE results will be poor (its well known in the parent community and even the school says it). There is heavy turnover in the staff - the head is leaving and the new head is coming with a checkered past, no head of english for years as well as Maths. Music churns each year. There is no SEN provision - parents are asked to pay extra for Learning Support There is also active bullying and excluding in the school - and its very woke in its approach. Boys and girls are pitted against each other for gender discussions, and my DD is very uncomfortable in this environment and girls are very afraid. Don't be fooled by the facilities - Its all for show. Its a big/expensive experiment for the group and they will say or do anything to get their numbers up. Happy to share all more privately do DM me.
