Bancroft’s school from central London?

Hey everyone 👋

Our DS has been lucky enough to receive an 11+ offer from Bancroft’s school in Woodford green.

We’re based in hackney and keen to hear from any other parents living more towards, or indeed in central London who are thinking of sending their children to the school, or who have managed to navigate their child to Woodford green for 8.20am every morning.

Has it been easy? How have you managed it? Any input gratefully received!!

They have a shuttle bus from Loughton Tube Station on the Central Line, if you you can get him to a Tube station.

Congrats on getting a place for your kid.

We opted for Forest School in the final reckoning after much deliberation as it has a great bus route network and we were too nervous about sending our son onto a train to Chingford (I think it was) and then a connecting school bus each morning which would have been the only option for Bancroft's

That being said, after 6 months I think we realised we had little to worry about as its incredible how they grow up in year 7 and he would have been fine doing it I'm sure. Luckily he is really happy at Forest so we have no regrets about our decision.

The only other thing I would say is that as a parent you will end up driving to the school on countless occasions either to pick up or drop off from clubs, school trips etc, and often at ridiculous hours so be prepared to drive to wherever you choose.

Lastly, Bancroft's is clearly a brilliant school so I would do whatever I could to make it happen vs a state school option - hope that's useful. lmk if I can help any more! good luck!

My daughter at Bancroft’s has a friend who lives in Clapton. Train to Chingford, 179 (or 197, I forget) from Chingford to the school.
