Maybe a qn for Noblegiraffe
What is Results plus?
DS is Y11. School said they will be doing mocks via something called Results Service, and submitting scores to Edexcel. No idea what that means. They said they could use the last set paper (June 19 or Nov 20). Or they could be using a latest mock set. Not sure what that means.
Will a mock set be similar standard to pay papers. What is results plus

Results plus is basically a posh spreadsheet that allows you to see which q’s an individual, class, cohort performs well/not well. Also compares with others who sat the paper.

Most mocks are just past papers.

Did they say results service or Mock Service?

Mocks service just means that they will complete a paper written by edexcel and edexcel markers will mark them.

The tests can be online or paper based.

A mock set will be the same as other papers - and written by the same people.

Resultsplus is an edexcel service but usually only used on results day in my experience as its very clunky!!

Edexcel results plus is a piece of software that gives you a detailed exam analysis breakdown, your top ten best topics, your bottom 10 worst, and all the areas you need to improve. On each question you can see how many marks you got compared to the national average (so was it a hard question?)

Teachers have to enter the scores for every question on every paper.

I’m guessing they’re saying they’ll sit a full mock past paper and then type the scores in to get the analysis.

Hi sd249, they said Mock Service

It's just externally marked mocks. Maybe they'll do the online ones because of restrictions.

Kids will then get the breakdown of their performance from results plus.

We were told the school could test using past papers or mock set papers for maths. I did ask what’s the difference. I got no reply.

The difference will be one set of papers will have been used nationally in a proper exam (but may be available on the internet) and the other will have been created by Edexcel to the same spec as a proper exam but it hasn't been used as an official paper. There will be proper grade boundaries available for a past paper, but guesswork for a non-past paper.
