Marple Hall school, stockport

We are considering moving to a new area which will fall under the catchment of Marple Hall secondary. Does anyone have any experience of this school? I’m slightly out off that there’s no 6th form. Obviously no open days currently which makes things difficult too. Children won’t be going for another 2 years so hopefully there will be time to do that before but just wondering if anyone knows the school at all?

I went there a few years ago, I'm 19. It was terrible to be honest. Everyone ended up getting good grades though. A lot of people were bullied and no one helped them.

I went to Marple Sixth Form and it was good there though.

DP went to Harrytown though which isn't too far from Marple Hall. You get a secure place in Aquinas College which is supposed to be good also.

Thanks @yuhuh yes I’ve heard mixed reviews . Some of our friends kids are there now but I find it hard to get an honest answer.

I’m worried about the bullying there too. Why is it so prolific?

@longshot we had friends who lived in Marple and their eldest had a terrible time at that school. So much so that they moved house to Cheadle so the younger one could get a place at Cheadle Hulme High School as it’s apparently fantastic. Their younger one started there for Y7 and the older one went for 6th form. We’re in Trafford so have the grammar system with 6th forms but I don’t know if Stockport secondary schools usually have a 6th form or if the Cheadle one is unusual. We are looking to move down to Hampshire and none of the schools have 6th forms so we are now waiting until after my daughter finishes A’levels.

Cheadle Hulme High School and Hazel Grove High School are the only two in Stockport with sixth forms and they are both part of the Laurus Trust. Cheadle Hulme in particular has a v.good reputation. Aquinas sixth form college is also well regarded and despite being catholic takes many non catholic students.

It's a very popular school but another option is Werneth. Seen as less desirable but fantastic facilities and staff.
