DD has received an offer from Notting Hill and Ealing High School which we are happy about. She is currently at a local state primary.

Would really appreciate for anyone’s thoughts on the school who has children there. What do you like or dislike about the school. Just want to weigh up if it is worth sending DD there and with 7 years of financial commitment.

Many thanks.

It is great.
She has done so well to get in: adjustment to ISEB, online interview etc.
It would seem unusual not to take up the place after all that.
What would be the alternative?

TotoroXX · 13/02/2021 23:09

Alternative is if she gets Tiffins.

My dd is taking up a year 7 place after this year's 11+. We absolutely loved the school, the head, the facilities and I am always impressed by the girls I know who go/went there. The parents I know there sing high praises of their experiences. We had 6 other acceptances, some considered much more selective but this was the school that we always wanted and feel so lucky to get a place.

Congrats to your dd at getting a spot.

@bantamblue congratulations to your DD. She has must done exceptionally well to have received so many offers. Well done to her.

Have you got better inside knowledge of NHEHS that make you want to choose this school over the others?

If you have a place at Tiffins Girls School I don’t see any reason to turn this down in favour of a place at NHEHS unless the journey to Tiffin is really difficult or your daughter has an extracurricular interest that NHEHS can nourish, eg she is a elite swimmer.

Junior school girls at NHEHS often go to Tiffins if they get a place rather than continue on to the senior school.

The two schools are completely different in terms of atmosphere and location.
It depends entirely on the child's personality and interests, and where the OP lives.

TotoroXX · 14/02/2021 11:53

@QGMum that is exactly where I am coming from. The journey to Tiffin is not difficult requiring same type of transportation i.e. tube then bus but would take approx 20mins longer each way. On the other hand my DD loves swimming and this is the main attraction of the school for her as she can join the club. She said if the school hasn’t got a swimming pool then the interest is much lesser. Academic wise both schools are excellent.

If we haven’t got Tiffin then fair enough but if we have a choice between the two then for me it is a question whether that extra 20mins each way x 7 years justify paying 7 years of fees.
