Hi, I need some advice to decide my DD's 11+ schooling. She is luckly enough to get the offer from WA, GL and CLSG so far. My husband prefer G&L because looks like the GCSE and A+ in the recently years are better than WA result. but I still want her to choose WA because the school offers quite a lot of activities and can help her to be more independant. We dont consider the location becuase we are flexible to move. Any comments? Thanks

Wycombe is boarding and the others are day so quite a different prospect. Personally having boarded myself from age 10, I wouldn't be keen on my children doing the same unless there was a strong reason to do so, but others on here probably feel differently. I would hope the pastoral care has improved over the last 20 odd years though. I am surprised that G&L has better results than Wycombe. Boarding makes you independent in a way but in another way, you're in a very protected environment. Going to somewhere like CLSG and getting the tube every day and having friends all over London, would in many ways lead to more independence than boarding.

The differences between the schools in terms of GCSE and A-level grades are very small. However, if we look at these small points, G&L has been better than CLSG in the past few years. I don't think it matters. Depending on your (DD's) goals, G&L has the IB option, and they have been ranked one of the best in the world for the past years. G&L girls also come from different areas in London. Girls come from Holborn, Camden, Brent, H&F, Kensington, Westminster, Hounslow, Sutton ...

The difference among results in the schools are sufficiently small that probably shouldn't be a major factor in your choice, and probably more to do with small differences in student recruitment/cohort or even just chance rather than big differences in school value-add. Which school is top seems to jump about each year and a bit depends on your metric for comparison. G&L used to be regarded as somewhat weaker than the other two, but their results have improved steadily in recent years.

I think the WA promotional video is awful. Pretentious and arrogant comments from the girls who show no empathy ir awareness of others less privileged than themselves. I would never send a daughter there.
