School bus tracker app

Sending DS1 off to “big school” this autumn and he’s got to get the bus - will be a 30+ minute bus ride across town (traffic is awful at school times). I work shifts so can’t always drive him. Am a bit nervous about the bus, I spoke to the school and they proudly told me about a tracker app that allows me to see where the bus is, and when DS gets on etc. Have people had much experience of these apps, I can’t decide whether it’s a great idea or if it’s all a bit big brother and I’ll be forever checking it in a nervous panic 🙈

Ds has an app like this. It tells me he got on, got off and if there's any unexpected delays. I don't ever actually check it but comes up on my phone screen as a notification.

I should have said they have one of those contactless pads that they hold their bus card against as they get on/off

We (me, DD, DS) have the free Life 360 app so we can see where each other are.

The public service bus DS gets to school has an app so we track its progress and see it coming along the road, but it's the Life360 app that actually shows me where he is.

Not a special bus tracker app but DDS, DH and I all have Googlemaps. We share our location with each other. So we can all see where the others are.
I can see if dds are on the bus, or walking home, or where DH is if he's out on his bike etc. They can see if I'm in town when they get off the bus so they might be able to get a lift home etc

Can also see the phone trundling round on the bus when they've left it on there and head it off when it gets back to the depot!

Our school uses Kura and it’s pretty useful!

We have a bus tracker provided by the school (plus we have tracker on the phone) - pretty accurate and very useful, especially for winter pickups. It will only be available once your DC gets on, so you can only frantically check for about 30 minutes or so!
