We just found out that DS has won the Lower School Mathematics Prize .

He had never heard of it, we don't know what he did to win it, but still .

YAY! Good lad Just don't forget to tell him how proud you are as well as telling us

JackieNo · 01/11/2007 13:12

Good prize. Get that camera going. (and as a bonus, you can mention it on your Round Robin letter with your Christmas cards).

christywhisty · 01/11/2007 13:13

congratulations your DS

clerkKent · 01/11/2007 13:24

We are well versed in the right words, commending him on working hard rather than being clever.

DD - inevitably - was jealous when we talked to DS about it. "You never congratulate me" etc.

Hallgerda · 01/11/2007 13:55

Congratulations to your DS, clerkKent.

I'll join you in the Proud Parent moment, if you don't mind. DS1's got the Year 7 Shield for Outstanding Achievement.

clerkKent · 01/11/2007 14:02

Fabulous! DS was completely unaware of prizes at WS until yesterday, although I seem to remember seeing Prize Day on the school calendar in previous years.

Congrats to your DS.
Does your school do the UKMT?

snorkle · 02/11/2007 11:01

Congrats to both. Sounds like they're doing really well.

silversparkler · 02/11/2007 11:50

Congratulations! How fab is it when our DCs do something so special?! Enjoy the moment!

fembear · 02/11/2007 14:32

Ooops missed that bit.
Well done to Hallgerda's DS too.

fembear, yes, the school does do the UKMT maths. challenges; clerkKent's DS does rather well in them. Maths isn't my DS1's thing - I just pop up on maths threads to re-live my mis-spent youth .

Hallgerda

I saw your son last night at the prize giving. DS explained what the Shield for Outstanding Achievement means - I am impressed! I had no idea that their CCF is held in such high regard.

clerkKent, I wasn't there (DH's turn as I went to the sports day), but I gather from DH and DS1 that it was a good evening. DH was slightly spooked by the high profile of the CCF patrolling and giving helpful directions, but then he was a CCF conscientious objector in his youth

I'll be looking out for scorched patches on the field from any re-enactment of the speaker's misdemeanours...
