Need some perspective on end of school year book categories

My DN has just seen what category she has been nominated for in her year book. She is horrified. It is along the lines of 'maneater' and is obviously highly sarcastic in her case. Other categories are 'getting uglier', 'Most likely to be a psychopath', 'Least evolved', 'Most likely to make a ‘only fans page’. The students nominated appear to have been chosen to be mean, rather than in good humour. But are we missing the fun and being too serious? Is this how it is?
My DH is American and his Year Book is nothing like this, all kind and fun.

That's grim, report to the school. Possibly organised by Y11 with no teacher oversight due to the pandemic.

IsabellaMozzarella · 30/01/2021 14:57

Thanks noblegiraffe.

Hopeful further bump.

What noble said.

MsAwesomeDragon · 30/01/2021 14:59

That wouldn't be allowed in my school. I agree with noble. Report to the school, I'm sure the teachers haven't approved such categories

My DSis has reported today. Just wanted to be sure that we haven't lost our sense of humour and other opinions appreciated.

I teach in a secondary school. Technically the students produce the yearbook, but everything is checked and approved by a member of staff and that would have been vetoed very early on.

I suspect the school will be horrified (and if they're not, they should be).

PrincessOfAllOurTarts · 30/01/2021 15:23

What! This can't be sanctioned by the school! If it is I'd make an official complaint.

LIZS · 30/01/2021 15:32

Dc school had the kids nominate categories but these were moderated by hoy.

clary · 30/01/2021 15:41

That is horrible. I can't imagine SLT at the school are aware of this, I would certainly report this.

May09Bump · 30/01/2021 15:54

Not acceptable at all - glad its been reported. Sounds very like targeted bullying under the guise of tough in cheek humour.

IsabellaMozzarella · 30/01/2021 17:13

Great, glad we're not completely mad. Complaint has been forwarded to SLT already. The poor students who have been targeted.

That's quite sad. When my DDs had them at the end of year 13, their categories included things like: most likely to be PM, first person to make a million, most likely to write a bestseller, most likely to be in a reality show. Some of the nominations were a bit sarcastic but everyone took them in good part.

IsabellaMozzarella · 30/01/2021 18:21

Yes mal, that's what we were expecting
