Anyone doing KCS and St Paul’s interviews?

My DS had his KCS interview and written test this week. We are still waiting on St Paul’s, we know he’s through to the interview stage but no date yet. Really hoping it won’t be much longer as just need it all behind us now. Anyone else waiting or done?

Hi, thanks for staring the thread about KCS and St Paul's - its been very quiet about these schools. Are you doing 11 or 13+? We have KCS coming up and have already done Hampton. Doing 11+ for both but not doing St Paul's as I wasn't keen on the junior school. How was the KCS interview. It all sounds quite formal compared to Hampton where it was all verbal examination both maths and english. It seems like KCS is just written english and an interview? I just want this all over. It seems worse it all being at home.

Does any know how 11+ offer decisions are made in terms of weighing up assessment criteria (specifically thinking re KCS)? Is it a case that once through to the interview stage, everyone then is on equal footing and decision is made based primarily on interview performance at that stage or is the interview still weighted amongst all other factors (i.e exam performance, school report, reference, etc)? Are interviews scored on a scale (or per question perhaps) or is the interview feedback simply “accept, “not accept” or “maybe?”

I’m sure the final decision is based on weighing up all the evidence, not just the interview. It’s only one piece of the jigsaw. I don’t think it’s as mechanical as you suggest. They’re really trying to find the right boys, the ones they feel will flourish. That can’t easily be measured, but the interviewers will know it when they see it - in tandem with all the other evidence.

Anyone has the same dilemma of offer for KCS 11+ vs St Pauls 13+ ? Please do share your thoughts. I am in a very pleasant dilemma but tough choices to make.
