Having assured me that there was no homework this week "because they tell us holiday is holiday" ( I checked his homework diary, which seemed to back that up) DS decided today there were a couple of bits he needed to do. Still at it several hours later(just when DH and I were thinking of having an early night...)Any tips anyone?

None, I'm afraid. I asked both DS1 and DS2 last weekend if they had any homework. They both said yes, did their homework and assured me they had no more. Check DS1's planner today to discover that he had about 5 pieces of homework still outstanding, 4 of which are due in tomorrow!

He has done them, but I am furious that (a) he left it so late and (b) he clearly lied about it last weekend.

So bleeding annoying, isn't it? And you feel like such a bad parent.

My ds had to do it all on the first day of the hols. I always threaten, if he isn't upfront about it, to phone the class swot ( a girl! ) to check if he's telling the truth.

So far, I haven't needed to carry out the threat

Lol - I'm on the other side of this coin as I'm sitting here marvelling to dp about the amount of pupils who have emailed me their homework this evening! I find it worrying that 12 and 13 year olds are sending emails at 10 in the evening and later - my 12 year old has been in bed for ages!

Unusually though, my dd had done her homework earlier - but suddenly decided she needed flute practice just before bedtime - hasn't touched the bloomi thing all week!

We agreed at the beginning of the week that dd would get all her homewprk out of the way early so that we could have a lovely peaceful family Sunday. She ended up writing her history essay and her englisg this afternoon and she still hasn't learnt her Spanish vocabulary!

DS1 will be doing his tomorrow (he's not back in until Tuesday).

For once, it's not his fault - we were busy last weekend, we've been on holiday during the week, and he's been on scout camp this weekend.
