Westminster Under WUS 11+ 2021 Entry

Hi

Anyone else on here for the Westminster Under 11+ online 2021 assessments next week?

And any WUS parents who are able to provide advice on the interview please? My DS is not someone who would take to prepping (he's very honest!) - plus I assume they want to see the 'real' DS - but it would be useful to know the rough format of the interview at least.

I don't know anyone who has ever attended or been for WUS so it's a bit unfamiliar and DS is not at a prep school.

@elevenplusnightmare we turned down an 11+ place at WUS. DS really wasn’t keen and he’d really fallen for local independent school round corner. Several notches down league table but still a very sought after school. Have no regrets. It’s so difficult. I feel your pain but only you know deep down what feels right for your child.

@Jane077 That actually makes me feel a lot better, thank you. DS is adamant he wants to go to the local. It's still a very sought after school but just not in the very top nationally.

@Sonotzenmum I doubt if they’ll tell you where on the waitlist you are but I think it’s definitely worth calling them to show you’re very interested and would accept if offered. No harm in signalling this.

We've released a place at WUS for 11+ entry. Very difficult decision to make.

Thank you for letting us know. I have no idea where DC is on the list but it is nice to know it moves. BTW, why was your DC so fixed on his local school? Was it friends or commute or he didnt like the look of WUS?

@Sonotzenmum The main reason was the travel into London (by train) during a pandemic and the logistics of having both my kids at the same school. Heartbreakingly difficult decision to make as we loved the school and the ethos. Any other year...

@Sonotzenmum DS already has a brother at the same school and it is a through-school (i.e. DS already there) so felt more 'familiar'. I do hope we will be able to go for Westminster again in the future.
