Totteridge Academy

Does anyone have a child at Totteridge Academy, I have heard that the new head is doing great things and that the school is getting a good reputation after not having had one for a while. I'm keen to hear from anyone who currently have a child there who can tell me what it's like academically and with pastoral care. My DS is not academic but I'm keen he is supported to do the best he can and that the school is nurturing and supportive as he's an August born so will be entering school as the youngest. Thank you in advance.

I've not had children there but a gang of them knocked on my door doing a survey last year and they were totally polite, engaged and well informed. It's a lovely open site, think it has a sort of farm there, I have know DC leave with decent results and go on to interesting things, which is all the more impressive given that so many chose selective around here.

It had the rep of being the worst school in Barnet a few years ago when my DS ( yr 13) was in yr 7/8. A couple of years later It closed its sixth form the day before term opened leaving their students with nowhere to go. However the new head has worked miracles and turned the school around. This means local kids are going there and not being bused in from out of the area ( was leading to fights on the way home) so for the first time the school was oversubscribed this academic year.Its great for the area to have a fab local school! It has a farm and is supposedly amazing for sen and pastoral care. If you go on any of the parent Barnet facebook groups there are loads of very happy parents. You also have the Ark academy which is a new school nearby, plus Mill Hill County further down the road.
