Are the Children back in on Monday the 18th

I'm a little confused as the school said they were back in on the 18/1/21 then I got an email today saying any students on FSM will get vouchers next week.

I have checked through all my correspondence off them and emailed school but had no response as of yet.

TIA

??

Schools are closed to all except kw/vulnerable children til at least Feb half term in England. More likely to be Easter.

CoffeePhoenix · 15/01/2021 19:38

Whereabouts are you?

Busygoingblah · 15/01/2021 19:38

That was the plan before lockdown happened but now is not. Children will be back after half term at the very earliest.

ContraryMaryIII · 15/01/2021 20:54

In in Manchester & thank you.

no

Pipandmum · 15/01/2021 21:44

No one is going back for weeks yet.

SJaneS49 · 16/01/2021 15:14

Yes me too!

As above, till at least the end of half term with the serious possibility that in certain regional areas they won’t go back even then. We’ve had an email from the Headteacher stating that quite potentially it could be the summer before they go back (we’re Kent).

No idea what the infection rates are in Manchester but if they are very high then I wouldn’t count on your DC going back for quite some time.

StacySoloman · 16/01/2021 15:15

The national lockdown has superseded any previous plans from the school.

Figgygal · 16/01/2021 15:17

Er do you not watch the news? Quite A lot has happened since the date of the 18th was mooted wasn’t that Christmas time?

WhereAreMyPants · 16/01/2021 15:18

OP you might want to watch the news occasionally. Schools are closed to most pupils until half term at the earliest.

HaveANiceFuckingDay · 16/01/2021 15:18

I’m confused too . I work in retail , non essential and I’m on furlough . I’ve been told I’m back in February but surely the kids should go back to school before non essential reopens ?

AmoElCafe · 16/01/2021 15:18

I’m a bit confused by things like this... did you not watch the national address when Boris Johnson announced that all schools would be closed until at least February half term? Or read any of the subsequent media reporting?

AmoElCafe · 16/01/2021 15:19

No one knows if non essential retail will be reopening in February yet. Most likely it won’t be. I imagine you’re being asked to prepare to return in February as a ‘best case scenario’.

Me too.

She's not the only one though, mate was going to take dC on Monday until I asked her how she'd got places. She hasn't. Just thought they were all back Monday. God alone knows how she gets dressed in the mornings🤦🏻‍♀️

StealthPolarBear · 16/01/2021 15:21

In fairness the 18th was not mooted, it was The Plan. Along with mass testing in schools.

The govt haven’t announced when schools or non essential retail will reopen yet so February is a guess.

Well yes, but surely everyone knows that since that was the plan, we have gone into full national lockdown with schools closed until further notice? I mean, it’s not like it hasn’t been mentioned anywhere.
LegoAndLolDolls · 16/01/2021 15:23

I hope the non essential shops dont open before schools.

Parents will either be too busy home schooling to go or taking the kids out to the shops. Neither of which make sence if schools are shut.

SunshineandShudders · 16/01/2021 15:25

You missed a bit OP. They were back on 18th Jan but then lockdown happened. Now back after half term, although no one, including the schools, will be told if that's actually happening until the day before.

NewYearNewLockdown · 16/01/2021 15:27

Oh I shouldn't laugh but 🤣

MNnicknameforCVthreads · 16/01/2021 15:35

And I thought I was bad at being a grown up some times.

The mind boggles.

BumbleBiscuit · 16/01/2021 15:36

What planet are you on @ContraryMaryIII??

Certainly not this one!

Deux · 16/01/2021 15:39

What? Shock

Lucieintheskye · 16/01/2021 16:00

Yep, all back on the 18th. Every non-essential business is opening and back to normal. Boris is handing out 100k to every UK citizen to thank us all for our efforts. FSM aren't needed anymore as we've also dealt with the poverty crisis.
