Hi all. I am contemplating moving to Edwinstowe or Ravenshead. We have really loved a house in Edwinstowe, however the village does not appear to have ethnically diverse population. I wonder if my son (who is of colour) would struggle to settle in a school there? Is this a valid concern or am I just overthinking? Thanks in advance

Hello, I don't live in Edwinstowe but a few miles away. The whole area isn't ethnically diverse at all, and in recent years has become very much a pro brexit, anti immigration area. Not suggesting you are immigrants just trying to give you an idea of the general feel of the area. That said, Edwinstowe is a nice village and is improving, certainly one of the nicer parts of the region. There's an abundance of lovely places to visit nearby and a good community feel. Its highly unlikely that anyone would be hostile or unwelcoming to you, but if you're looking for diversity it isn't the place for you. We're also house hunting and considering Edwinstowe as its one if the best options within sensible commuting distance of DS' school, but given the chance I'd leave the area completely.

I wouldn't do secondary school there!
Ravenshead is a lovely village but not really a lot there. The catchment secondary school is in Rainworth but many choose to send their children to Calverton as it was a bit rough.
Edwinstowe is an old mining village and many have thst attitude though tomes have moved on.
If you are wanting ethnically diverse that tends to be nearer Nottingham City centre however if private school is an option you are more likely to mix with ethnic diversity in Ravenshead.

A more ethnically diverse secondary school would be Djanology or Emanuel just to give you some idea.
