Does anyone know when CFCS is likely to send out invitations to interviews? Any other experience or info on the school also welcome! Hoping to hear soon.

Following this one. We are sitting our CFC exams this week

EshSchools · 11/01/2021 19:19

Oh - I thought they must be soon as the exams were in December (for 11+). Are they still holding them? Will have to wait longer!

I think we're in the same boat @EshSchools - sat the 11+ in December, waiting to hear re interviews. I can't find anything in the documents we've got from CFC specifying when the interview invitations would go out, so would appreciate it if anyone does know.

GrammarHopeful · 11/01/2021 21:33

I think you should expect to hear back this week.

@After8itsgrownuptime, is yours a 10+, per chance, or a late 11+?

After8itsgrownuptime · 11/01/2021 21:37

We are 13+, but it’s for all the kids who couldn’t do the date In December. The admissions lady told me they are doing an additional sitting for those who couldn’t sit in December due to self isolating etc

GrammarHopeful · 11/01/2021 21:38

Thanks for clarifying!

BookShark · 12/01/2021 11:41

We received an interview offer today, but reading between the lines of the email, I think they're interviewing some of the December exam people while still marking the recent ones, in order to keep things moving. Interestingly, the interviews are in person and outside, so best wrap up warm!

Brainf0g · 12/01/2021 12:02

Sorry to jump on thread, but does anyone know what sort of number of pupils stay on for sixth form ? From the DfE tables, it seems that year group of 70 goes down to about 40 in sixth form, I'm not sure how typical this is and whether more are now staying on, with new sixth form facilities. I know some pupils want a change of scene so I guess my question is - are there other reasons pupils don't stay on?

GrammarHopeful · 12/01/2021 12:20

We had ours as well. Good luck to all kids!

Singingrain1223 · 12/01/2021 13:23

@Brainf0g , Esher College is a big draw in the area and in the past with the college's wide range of subjects and competent university guidance as well as being free would have been a good alternative to staying on but CFC has really changed in the past 2 years and I'm sure that will be reflected in the 6th form numbers.

EshSchools · 12/01/2021 18:02

Now I'm worrying.. those of you called for interview are you first half or second half of the alphabet?

OP posts:
NeverEnoughCake2 · 12/01/2021 18:07

We've not heard anything yet either - just going to carry on keeping our fingers crossed!

GrammarHopeful · 12/01/2021 18:08

First five letters. Please try not to worry!

EshSchools · 12/01/2021 18:19

Thank you both!

BookShark · 12/01/2021 21:08

We're also early in the alphabet so please don't read too much into anything. As luck would have it, we couldn't make the time we were offered (the interviews are actually onsite - outside! - so not as easy to slot into the day as a 15 minute Teams call) and when I rang the admissions office to rearrange, they said they were exceptionally busy. So I'm sure there will be more emails coming out soon.

Fingers crossed for those waiting to hear!

BarfSimpson · 12/01/2021 22:26

Hi, we got our invitation to interview this evening close to 6pm. When I spoke to the admissions team yesterday they said that everyone should expect to have an email by the end of this week, and that (as previous commenter mentioned) they’re working through the December candidates in order of receiving their marked papers. So I don’t think it’s about where you are in the alphabet, if that is in any way reassuring.

GrammarHopeful · 13/01/2021 13:56

FWIW, DS really enjoyed his (entirely 'soft' Qs-based) interview with the Headmaster on site. Jumped back into the car beaming :)

Let's see what this translates into.

NeverEnoughCake2 · 15/01/2021 14:23

Phew! Interview invitation received (second half of alphabet FWIW).

Fingers crossed for anyone else waiting to hear.

EshSchools · 15/01/2021 16:26

I forgot to come back... DS also has an interview - phew!

I wonder what the proportion of interviews to offers is - any ideas?

We had our interview but with the SENCo who was a delight and it was online. I hope this isn’t detrimental to our application. We love the school. Hoping we hear very soon. I think the school is on the up and I really really like the head. Very down to earth...

BarfSimpson · 30/01/2021 09:23

Delighted to have received an offer at CFC this morning. It’s our first choice — we love everything about the school and DS can’t wait to start.

withmycoffee · 30/01/2021 09:29

Don't worry. There is much hype about getting offer. Reality is, most private schools have to make most offers as they are at risk of not filling all their spaces. Only the top few schools are genuinely over subscribed. Remember, each child is generally sat for between 3-6 schools. They only go to one yet they generally receive more than one offer. They therefore massively have to over offer. If your DC doesn't have 3 heads, it is highly unlikely they won't get an offer from CFS

Mammamiammy · 30/01/2021 10:09

Congrats to those with offers. We now have 4 offers so we are very fortunate to be in the position of having to decide. Well done to all...

EshSchools · 30/01/2021 11:41

What an awful comment two below - why do that? DS did get an offer, is chuffed to bits. I know of children who didn't get to interview stage and there's absolutely nothing wrong with any of them.

Singingrain1223 · 30/01/2021 12:15

I agree @EshSchools , the poster below obviously has no idea what a great school CFC is esp with the new head and how competitive it is to get an offer. Well done to everyone who is managing to navigate such a difficult entry system this year to all schools.
